No matter which style you pick, always set your hair before creating the look. On towel-dried hair, apply volumising mousse from roots to ends, then blow-dry until your hair is completely dry, says Michael Chiew, leading stylist of Hairloom.

This style adds elegance to your look without complicated steps. Towel-dry, then apply volumising mousse from roots to ends. Blow-dry on medium heat. Spread styling wax or paste on your fingertips and palms, and finger-comb your fringe to create a quiff. For more volume, form the quiff in the opposite direction to the natural growth of your hair. When you’re satisfied with the look and height of the quiff, use hairspray to lock it in place – direct more hairspray at the roots.

This simple, sleek hairstyle will take you from desk to dinner. It essentially involves parting your hair to one side and keeping it frizz-free until the end of the day. Start by massaging hairstyling cream or lotion into towel-dried hair, then set the parting and blow-dry. Use your eyebrow arch as a guide for where the parting should be. If you will be outdoors all day, spritz hairspray all over before stepping out.

Give your braided bun a sleek look with this style.
Get the Look
Step 1: Comb your hair back and section it into three ponytails.
Step 2: Braid the three ponytails into one large braid but leave the ends unsecured. If your hair is very soft and the braid doesn’t hold, spray a texturising hairspray over the ponytails before braiding.
Step 3: Coil the braid into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Leave the ends unpinned to give the style a softer look.

If you love ponytails but dislike the way they tend to look too sporty, try weaving yours this way.

Step 1: Create two sections of hair and tie up the lower section into a ponytail.
Step 2: Divide the top section into three parts: a long fringe and two mini ponytails. These sections do not need to be even. Spray each section with a generous amount of hairspray until it becomes stiff. This will help to highlight the weave design of the final look.
Step 3: Cross the two mini ponytails under the main ponytail and secure with bobby pins.
Step 4: Wrap the ends of the long fringe section around the main ponytail, and fasten with a bobby pin.
