Are you ready to fall?

Twice a year, Pantone releases its Fashion Color Trend Report, giving an overview of the most important hues of the season.

For Fall/Winter, some very rich, bright shades are taking centrestage, indicating a playfulness that will dominate in the coming months.

Here’s how to wear some exciting key colours.

Red Pear (Pantone 19-1536)
image

“Deliciously deep red, whose luscious depth entices.”

Burgundy is a colour choice that’s so mega for the fall — but the way to wear the oxblood tone is to really drench yourself in it. Match a puffed-sleeved top with a tutu skirt for maximum effect. Offset the look with accessories of a different hue so there’s some contrast.

Top: Semi-sheer top with puffed sleeves by Roksanda, US$737 (S$1,006), via Matchesfashion

Skirt: Ruffled tulle midi skirt by Molly Goddard, £675 (S$1,212), via Net-a-Porter

Shoes: Horsebit leather loafers by Gucci, £540 (S$970), via Net-a-Porter

Bag: Wooden crossbody bag by Zara, S$69.90

Earrings: Gold circular studs by Gorjana, S$47.54, via Revolve

Ultraviolet (Pantone 18-3838)

“Inventive and imaginative Ultra Violet lights the way for what is yet to come.”

BOOM. This is the colour of 2018. This tone evokes thoughts of higher consciousness and creativity, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a statement.

Top: Sequinned printed t-shirt by Gucci, €750 (S$1,192), via Mytheresa

Pants: Wool and mohair blend checkered pants by Victoria Beckham, £790 (S$1,427), via Net-a-Porter

Shoes: Buckled leather snake-effect heeled sandals by Chloé , £630 (S$1,138), via Net-a-Porter

Bag: Top handle leather bag with buckle detail by Boyy, US$895 (S$1,220), via Moda Operandi

Limelight (Pantone 12-0740)

“Animated and effervescent, a pungent yellow-green becomes the center of attention.”

Put yourself in the limelight but toughen this colour up with denim, sneakers and darker shades in shiny, hard-looking materials so there’s a big contrast with this soft shade.

Jacket: Distressed denim jacket by 7 For All Mankind, S$440, via Farfetch

Dress: Cotton maxi dress with floral embroidery by Banjanan, US$490 (S$668), via Moda Operandi

Shoes: Glitter sneakers by Golden Goose, US$395 (S$539), via Ssense

Bag: Croc embossed leather top handle bag by 3.1 Phillip Lim, US$695 (S$948), via Ssense

Quetzal Green (Pantone 18-5025)

“A deep elegant blue-green hue suggestive of rich plumage.”

This jewel-toned hue is deep and soft, so allow your accessories to provide a pop of colour and excitement, helping to show off the richness of this gorgeous green tone.

Coat: PVC trench coat by Dorothee Schumacher, US$560 (S$763), via Moda Operandi

Top: Wool and cashmere bell-sleeve sweater by Jil Sander, €1,090 (S$1,739), via Mytheresa

Russet Orange (Pantone 16-1255)

“This forest floor orange speaks to earthen warmth.”

This warm tone is a toned-down take on orange — a mandarin orange with a little less zest. Its eye-appeal is perfect for the “summer” of Singapore.

Top: Geometric printed silk shirt by Chloé, £795 (S$1,420), via Net-a-Porter

Dress: Cotton-blend midi dress by Ulla Johnson, £375 (S$678), via Net-a-Porter

Nebulas Blue (Pantone 18-4048)
image

“Reminiscent of twilight, a thoughtful, starry-eyed blue.”

There’s the blue sky, the blue sea and the blue you. This shade wouldn’t be out of place in a beach town. Bask under the sun in this calming tone as you take in views from the infinity pool at your resort.

Bikini: Baroque printed bikini by Dolce & Gabbana, S$617, via Farfetch

Robe: Embroidered cotton kaftan by Celia Dragouni, S$550, via Farfetch

Ceylon Yellow (Pantone 15-0850)
image

“Savory and spicy yellow adds an exotic touch.”

A pop of colour like this earthy yellow keeps things so fresh and exciting, especially against Fall/Winter’s muted tones like mossy greens.

Crocus Petal (Pantone 15-3520)
image

“A cultivated and refined hue adds a light and airy spring-like feeling demand.”

A surprising pick for Fall/Winter. But the crocus flower is one of the first to show itself as winter comes to a close, blooming in the springtime. It symbolizes gladness and youthfulness. Wear a full suit of this shade, and keep accessories bright-hot.

A colour that’s suitable for the urban jungle. Pair it with other neutral, earth-toned colours like camel, sand and even forest green.

Valiant Poppy (Pantone 18-1549)
image

“Brave and outgoing red shade effusive in its allure.”

Effusive is right. This is a fun splash of red that looks vibrant and fresh. But with this tone, don’t go top-to-toe — that could make you look like a giant exclamation mark. Instead, reference the shade in bits and pieces, and apply a slick lipstick in a matching hue.

Skirt: Denim midi skirt by A.P.C., €180 (S$286)
