Calling her a model just isn’t enough to really describe Ian Tan Ya (scroll through her Instagram feed and you’ll understand why). She’s a creative and an artist, constantly reimagining her simple portraits and tweaking them to works of art. Besides her unique and unconventional photos, we can’t help but love her striking and distinct look and appeal.
We may know her as the daughter of one of Singapore’s most notable soccer players Fandi Ahmad and former model Wendy Jacobs (or yes, the sister to Irfan and Ikhsan Fandi), but the 19-year-old oozes a youthful yet equally cool and charismatic appeal and constantly maintains a professional and polite composure whenever on set.
Alexander Wang, Marine Serre and Dolce Gabbana are just some of the few brands this homegrown model has worked with.
First seen at The New Paper New Face modelling competition, she has now managed to keep a ton of modelling accolades under her belt, what with her features in international magazines such as Marie Claire and her impressive list of brands she has worked with for fashion week.
Having walked the runway for Marta Jakubowski at London Fashion Week, this 22-year-old is definitely a rising runway face to watch. Besides that, she has also been featured on a slew of different campaigns from brands such as Fashmob, Ahdco and Reebok. Bonus: she’s a major jetsetter so there’ll always be new travel content on her IG.
Not only was she our cover girl for the Her World December 2019 issue, she has also graced the runways of Paris Fashion Week, walking for Dries Van Noten and Balmain just last year.
What else we love about her? Her edgy, cool and uber sleek short pixie ‘do (it ranges from blond to black over the years) that has constantly given us some major inspo.
