The Classics
image

Authentic, useful, and timeless, the season’s masterpieces – an oversized pullover to snuggle into, the coat to wear over anything, the 24/7 black number, the handsome jacket – are for real women with real lives. Like Serena Adsit here. One of the top local models in the ’90s, she still models, is a mother of a six-year-old boy (Evan is his name), and runs model agency Mint Management.

Hair : Christvian Goh/Trimmings Salon & Spa using Kevin.Murphy
Makeup : Hongling Lim using Nars

Seen here : Lined wool coat, $710, from Sandro. All Star canvas sneakers, $99.90, from Converse. Socks, stylist’s own.

This story first appeared in the October 2017 issue of Her World Singapore.

The Crisp White Shirt
image

A garment that needs no introduction – we all know that it goes well with jeans, trousers, skirts and shorts, flatters every skin tone and looks good on anybody at any age. And that’s just three of its merits.

Seen here : Cotton shirt, $460, and denim jeans, $530, from Dries van Noten. Sterling silver bracelet, $149, from Thomas Sabo. Patent oxfords, $385, from Sandro.

The Slip Dress
image

Everybody wore a slip dress in the ’90s to party, brunch or dine. Why? It switches easily from grunge with a pair of doc martens to minimalist with sneakers, from vintage with a bias-cut to wedding appropriate with heels.

Seen here : Iris & Ink silk slip dress, $165, from www.theoutnet.com. Lined cotton jacket, $1,790, from Dries van Noten. Jack Purcell leather sneakers, $119.90, from Converse.

The Iconic Watch

We’ve talked about the Cartier Tank before – the famous faces who wore it, how it’s coveted by many and of course, how it celebrated its 100th birthday this year. What you might not know? The Tank Americaine featured here now comes in steel and in three different sizes.

Seen here : Lined wool coat, $680, from Sandro. Cartier Tank Americaine steel watch with leather strap, $7,900. Belt, stylist’s own.

The Watch That Made A Comeback
image

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato first made its re-debut last year in a stainless steel variation. This year, there are 34 new models and this one is in a sleek 34mm that looks dainty but holds its own in the bling arena.

Seen here : Lined camel hair-blend coat (price unavailable) from Max Mara. Laureato 34mm steel and pink gold watch, $22,400, from Girard-Perregaux. Ines de la Fressange for Uniqlo calf leather belt, $49.90, from Uniqlo. Calf leather boots, $385, from Sandro.

The Simple Watch
image

For the women who don’t hanker for an it-watch that comes with bells and whistles, Solvil et Titus has the answer – a collection of 10 watches titled Interlude Summer that come cased in stainless steel, a minimal watch face and with Japanese quartz movement.

Seen here : Wool turtleneck sweater, $94.95, from H&M. Sovil et Titus Summer Interlude steel watch, $420, from City Chain. Jack Purcell leather sneakers, $119.90, from Converse.

The Canadian Tuxedo
image

There’s a reason why the canadian tuxedo is still worn by many even after 6 decades – with tonal denim on top and on the bottom, it’s hard to go wrong.

Seen here : Denim jacket, $449, and polyester turtleneck, $109, from Calvin Klein Jeans. Denim jeans, $530, from Dries van Noten.

The Oversized 2-Piece
image

Before Vetements made anything oversized or too small, everybody in the ’90s was already doing it. Why? Nothing says power like power shoulders.

Seen here : Jersey turtleneck sweater, $125, wool-blend jacket, $290, and matching pants, $490, from Cos.

The coziest of knit dresses
image

The most luxurious feeling in the world in a sartorial context? A soft-to-the-touch knit. The second most luxurious feeling? Clothes that you can slip on and call it a day. This dress is both.

Seen here : Ribbed knit wool turtleneck dress, $625, from Maje. Calf leather mules, $1,140, from Chloe.
