7 best new perfumes for women that are universally pleasant
You wouldn't want your friends and colleagues to be annoyed with your perfume, would you?
When buying a perfume, you should get one that: 1) you love, 2) doesn’t make people around you feel like throwing up, and 3) doesn’t leave a trail for people to track you down.
Armed with these criteria, the Her World team spritzed our way through some of the most recently released fragrances. Those that checked the boxes have one thing in common – notes of two tropical flowers: jasmine, a fresh, calming and uplifting scent, and tuberose, a headier fragrance that has a buttery-creamy scent that gives off a sensual vibe. During the Victorian era, tuberose was thought to be so sensual it was able to induce spontaneous orgasms.
These are the perfumes that please everyone and make others want to hang around you more, not run away.

Complex yet feminine, this chypre fragrance has spicy, citrusy top notes of bergamot and pink peppercorn that give way to floral rose and jasmine middle notes. It eventually mellows down to leather and patchouli base notes. Bold and classy without being overtly creamy or sweet, this is perfect for the modern, refined and assertive women.
This chypre floral musk fragrance is fronted by model Bella Hadid, who embodies a mysterious goddess that unleashes her charm when night falls in the Eternal City of Rome. It’s a sensual fragrance that opens with top notes of mulberry and black peony, followed by middle notes of jasmine and tuberose that give way to black musk and vetiver base notes. Wear this on your next date or on a night out for partying, and you’ll be sure to turn heads.
This latest addition to the My Burberry family is created by the luxury brand’s Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey and perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. Sparkling and fresh, this scent is made for those with playful and energetic personalities. It opens with top notes of glazed pomegranate and lemon (super-refreshing) before middle notes of geranium, apple and rose take over. Rounding off the scent are base notes of jasmine and wisteria accord, which makes it a very feminine and wearable everyday fragrance.
A modern and feminine floral scent, this is reminiscent of a vast garden filled with different and diverse types of flowers. Tuberose and jasmine notes carry the fragrance, and it also features Rangoon Creeper, a plant that’s never been used in perfume-making before. The Rangoon Creeper, which imparts a powdery note to the scent, was discovered in South India, and it changes colour from white to pink, then finally red when it blooms.
Blended by master perfumer Alberto Morillas with direction from Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, this fragrance’s most-recognisable face is actress Dakota Johnson (actress and model Hari Nef and artist Petra Collins are the other two), who embodies the independent and modern woman.
Christine Nagel, Hermes‘ perfumer-designer, was inspired by the dreams of young women and the fun they have with the Hermes scarves, known for its colourful and intricate designs. That’s why the Twilly d’Hermes is embellished with a version of these iconic scarves, tied to the neck of the bottle. Freedom, courage, mischieviousness and a hint of impulsiveness – that’s the attitude you get from this feminine scent that combines notes of ginger, tuberose and soothing sandalwood to make it fresh yet mysterious.
This entirely new fragrance from Chanel is for the woman who values freedom and embodies femininity. It has four key notes: ylang-ylang, jasmine, orange blossom and a touch of tuberose, and is made with the French brand’s founder, Gabrielle Chanel (before she was known as Coco Chanel), in mind. It’s rebellious with a stylish attitude, and timeless too.
Just in case you’re really not into jasmine or tuberose scents, here’s one that doesn’t have either. This Jo Malone is a fruity-woody pleaser that refreshes and calms the senses. It’s a warm and round fragrance with notes of rose, amber and white musk. Since the brand’s known for its unisex fragrances, this one’s perfect as a gift for your man too.
