What does your hairstyle and hair colour reveal about your TRUE personality?
What does your coiffure say about your character?
#LongHairDontCare? Everyone’s favourite Instagram hashtag may be more illuminating than its initial inanity lets on, if face readers are to be believed.
Yup, perusing one’s pouf may provide insight into a person’s personality. Take Rose Weitz, a women and gender studies professor at Arizona State University and author of the intriguingly titled Rapunzel’s Daughters: What Women’s Hair Tells Us About Women’s Lives: “We can change [hair] so easily in ways that we can’t change any other part of our body. It becomes a reflection of who that person is, and a sign of our identity.” Sounds legit to me!
Of course, commonsensical caveats apply. If you’re using this to calibrate someone’s character, bear in mind that this fun little exercise isn’t grounded in hard science, and shouldn’t sub for actual interaction with said individual. Got that? Let’s go!
Ladies with long locks are (wouldn’t you know it) literally letting their hair down. They’re more likely to be creative creatures with a ravishingly romantic streak. Working hypothesis: Could this possibly explain an average dude’s predilection for lasses with thigh-length tresses…?
There’s just something so exquisitely enigmatic about redheads, right? Gingers (and this holds true for “fake” reds from a bottle) tend to be warm, whimsical and witty – red-haired and red-blooded, if you will – although they can also be cruel and capricious; a Jessica Rabbit will not dilly-dally when dumping her date once the first frisson of infatuation fizzles out.
Blondes may have more fun, but brunettes are rational and resourceful (at least according to some studies.) If you’re a brown-haired belle, there’s a good bet you’re also smart, sensible and a good judge of character. (Hence the cinematic trope of the brainy, bespectacled brunette.) Best of all, a cinnamon-coloured cascade of curls is gorgeous without being garish – making this an incredibly OL-friendly colour of choice.
