If your shot of espresso isn’t enough to keep you awake through the afternoon while you work from home, consider spritzing on a facial mist from time to time for an instant perk-me-up.

As facial mists are formulated with a cocktail of skin-loving ingredients, they can help to nourish, hydrate and soothe your complexion.

Now, some facial mists have earned a reputation for leaving your complexion dry once it evaporates. But take note this situation only occurs if the spray you use does not contain humectants – or moisturising agents – which helps to retain moisture on your skin while preserving the overall properties of the product.

Here, we suss out the facial mists that will help freshen up – and hopefully – battle those zzzs.

Best face mists to hydrate and freshen up skin in SG's heat
Shiseido Ultimune Defense Refresh Mist, $88
image

If you’re a fan of Shiseido’s Ultimune line, then you’ll fall head over heels for its Defense Refresh Mist. Kirishima Spa Water and Double-Refreshing Complex work to help skin feel cooler and strengthen against heat, while Reishi Mushroom and Iris Root extract supports skin’s ability to defend itself while boosting hydration and vitality. Consider your skin quenched and well protected.

Sephora
Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum Mist, $92
image

This features a bi-phase formula of oil and water so always shake the bottle to mix the ingredients well prior to application. On top of hydrating and boosting the skin’s overall radiance, this mist contains the brand’s Jaum Balancing Complex which is made of five different plants – solomon seal, peony, sacred lotus, white lily and rehmannia – to nourish, treat damaged skin caused by external stressors, improve skin cell turnover rate and combat early signs of ageing.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist, $114
image

Ideal for tired and stressed complexions, this helps to revitalise and energise skin with two key ingredients, camellia alba and blue ginger extracts. These ingredients utilises the brand’s PFA method to obtain the extracts to ensure the active ingredients remain pure and fresh for maximum efficacy.

Eve Lom Radiance Face Mist, $85
image

An all-in-one face mist that hydrates, protects skin from pollution (yes, you need to protect your skin even when you’re indoors), improves elasticity, and jam-packed with antioxidants. Its key moisturising complex is enhanced with actives to support the skin’s natural ability to regulate water retention while adapting to changes in humidity, allowing the skin to be balanced and refreshed at all times. Plus, it works to treat most skin concerns like dark spots and dehydrated skin and improve overall skin health for a natural, healthy-looking glow.

Fresh Vitamin Nectar Anti-Oxidant Glow Water Skin Nutrition Face Mist, $39
image

Made with antioxidant and vitamin-rich ingredients, this facial mist aims to nourish and protect the complexion. Vitamin C helps to energise and boost radiance while imparting a dewy glow to the skin while Vitamins E and B5 hydrate, protect and soothe redness and inflammation.

Dr Jart Cicapair Facial Calming Mist, $31
image

Tired and stressed complexions are common when you’re working from home which may lead to unwanted breakouts and dryness. This mist is saturated with a Centella Asiatica Complex (a superior ingredient at calming skin) to soothe and hydrate. It also forms a thin moisture barrier on the skin to prevent further moisture loss.

MyClarins Re-fresh Hydrating Beauty Mist, $32
image

Besides using this to pre the skin for your day or night time skincare regime, this can also be used throughout the day to hydrate, brighten and freshen up dull complexions. Fig tree extracts deliver optimum moisture while acerola fruit extracts promote an anti-dark spot action for a more even complexion.

Laneige Water Bank Hydro Mist, $36
image

The star ingredient in this hydrating mist is the brand’s green mineral water. It is made using vegetable extracts from kale, watercress and beetroot through a patented Ocean Brew Method to obtain the purest form of active ingredients. It hydrates and strengthens the skin barrier to ensure that the skin is able to function optimally.

Bybi Beauty Mega Mist, $50, Sephora
image

Not only can this be used as a facial mist, it also doubles up as a moisturising toner. Its vegan and cruelty-free formula contains hyaluronic acid to instantly hydrate, nourish and calm dry and parched complexions. For those who are environmentally-conscious, this product comes with a packaging that is recyclable.

Jurlique Sweet Violet & Grapefruit Hydrating Mist, $65
image

Sweet violet extracts boosts skin’s moisture levels while plant-based antioxidants protect and nourish the skin. What we really love is its citrusy floral scent that is a treat to the senses while you work from home.

Jung Saem Mool Essential Mool Micro Fitting Mist, $30
image

Infused with mineral-rich Karlovy Vary hot spring water that is rich in mineral ingredients and amino acids, this soothes dryness and ensures skin’s moisture levels are balanced. It also boasts micro-fine spray that lightly yet densely spritzes onto the complexion evenly to refresh the skin while delivering a natural, healthy-looking glow to the complexion.

Urban Decay B6 and Quick Fix Complexion Prep Priming Sprays, $50 each
image

If you’re familiar with Urban Decay, you’d have likely already heard about their B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Priming Spray, which is an absolute godsend for combo-oily skin types. It’s great for balancing out your skin, reducing oil, and prepping your skin with antioxidants and vitamins to restore radiance to a dull complexion.

This year, the brand has added a brand new spray to their collection called the Quick Fix Hydra-Charged Complexion Prep Priming Spray, which is more for dry or dehydrated skin types. It’s a coconut water-based spray with vitamin B3 that smells like a day at the beach. Like the B6 spray, this one is meant to boost the radiance of your skin and reduce the appearance of your pores, with a way more intense hydration kick.

La Roche-Posay Serozinc, $12.90 for 50ml and $24.90 for 150ml
image

It’s not the first time we’ve raved about this baby, and it isn’t exactly a brand new product, but the brand only launched this in Singapore in the last few months, and our faces have never been so grateful. It works best for oily skin types, acting as a mattifying face mist, which essentially makes it the first oil-blotting face mist we’ve ever sampled. It’s also meant to soothe your skin if you have acne, razor burn or superficial skin irritations. It contains water, sodium chloride, and zinc sulfate which is great for sebum control, soothing acne, and tightening your pores.

If your skin has gotten shiny over the course of the day, simply mist your face with some Serozinc, wait a beat or two, then blot off the excess with a tissue.

Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist, $50 for 120ml
image

Sephora.sg stocked this brand fairly recently, and the products are just beautiful from a packaging perspective. Presentation aside, the brand also prides itself on using all-natural products and high quality ingredients, as well as being cruelty-free and 100 percent vegan.

To wit, this Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist contains pure plant actives. It has a base of coconut water which is infused with hibiscus flower petals (for maintaining youthfulness) and Bulgarian rose to tone, hydrate and soften the skin. The hibiscus flower also contains acids that promise to gently exfoliate and speed up the cell renewal in your skin, while the rose has antioxidants to reduce inflammation, alongside aloe vera to soothe. There is a smaller travel-sized one available as well.

First Aid Beauty Vital Greens Face Mist, $30 for 60ml
image

You’ve probably heard of how wonderful green smoothies are for your body, but what if they were bottled into a mist for your skin? First Aid Beauty has just released a new Hello Fab line, and one of the key launches is this face mist packed with ingredients like kale, spinach, cucumber, and spirulina, all of which are not only going to nourish your skin, but protect it from environmental aggressors like pollution and dirt.

The mist also throws in aloe leaf juice to soothe and hydrate the skin, as well as a botanical extract from a desert rose that’s said to survive the most dehydrating conditions. It’s also supposed to help set your makeup, so you can use it after you’ve put your face on, or as and when your skin needs a boost throughout the day.

Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist With Rosemary SPF50, $42 for 100ml
image

This mist is rather unique. While it touts itself as a setting spray, we prefer it as just a sunscreen mist. It smells amazing thanks to the antioxidant-rich rosemary and mint, which is one of the best things about it, but it also gives your skin a matte finish and helps with oil control throughout the day. You just have to make sure you give it a good shake before you spray it. We love that the mint provides a nice pick-me-up while the actives get to work at reinforcing your UV protection. It’s available for shipping from Sephora.sg at the moment, and is set to launch in stores in June.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist, $24 for 80ml
image

Pixi also launched on Sephora.sg in recent months. It’s a cult beauty brand sprung from London over 10 years ago, and is best known for its award-winning exfoliating toner called Glow Tonic. This hydrating milky mist is meant to plump up your skin with a blend of hyaluronic acid (which we and our skin can’t live without), provitamin A, linoleic acid, and oat. You just have to give it a shake and get to spritzing anytime your skin needs a hydration boost. It’s quite affordable and great to have on standby at your desk to shield your skin from the harshness of air-conditioning.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist, $53 for 100ml
image

Created in 1930, Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant is something of a legendary cult beauty product today, with celebrity endorsements by the likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones, Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria and more. The line has since evolved with additions like face oils, lip balms, hand treatments, and sunscreen.

This hydrating mist is the latest installment in the brand’s miracle moisture series, and what better way to do so than a face mist? It’s packed with a blend of powerful antioxidants and superfoods like pomegranate fruit extract, acai, mangosteen, goji and coffee seeds.

Laneige Water Bank Creamist, $27
image

Think of this as Laneige’s Water Bank Moisture Cream in a mist form. It takes the larger viscous cream particles and transforms them with a micro emulsification technology into smaller liquid particles that are easily dispersed. If you have really dehydrated or dry skin, you will love this mist. It’s packed with vitamins A, C and E, natural vegetable squalane, and three types of fatty acids as well as hyaluronic acid.
