A new launch for January 2017, these gorgeous tinted lip balms from YSL pack a subtle kiss of colour with some intense hydration. The tint gets richer the more you apply the product, but you can expect a gorgeous wash of colour that’s a breeze to re-apply, no mirror necessary! The shade #6 Touch Me Red comes off as a light pinky red that’s sheer enough to suit any outfit.
Guerlain has released a limited edition Chinese New Year version of their Rouge G lipstick in Genna. The packaging is gorgeous and covered in red peonies, which are of course a symbol of spring. The lipstick itself is a creamy vibrant orange-red with rich pigmentation and a slight sheen to the finish. The perfect addition to your vanity if you love collectibles.
If you want a matte lippie that’s highly pigmented but still extremely comfortable on the lips, the latest lipstick from Shu Uemura does just that, and comes in 24 different shades to boot! RD144 is a gorgeous bold red created specifically to suit and flatter Asian skin tones.
The latest lip product from Burberry is an extension of its Velvet lip line. This is a liquid lipstick that has a whipped creamy formula. It dries matte and has a highly pigmented and velvety finish to it, but isn’t drying on the lips thanks to the whipped creamy texture. If you want a brighter red, Military Red is a classic shade, but of course you can go a little bolder if you wish with Oxblood.
The most recent addition to L’Oreal’s Color Riche lipstick line, these metallic lippies said to be infused with 24K gold pigments. Rouge Gold is a gorgeous bright orange-red with a subtle tinge of gold. Of course, if you want to amp up the amount of shimmer in it, you can layer the shade Le Gold from the same range over top for a truly metallic look.
If you want something less pigmented but just as vibrant, Lipstick Queen’s Eden lipstick is a bright semi-sheer apple red (a clever callback to the biblical Garden of Eden referenced in the shade’s name) with the barest hint of shimmer. It’s also hydrating on the lips, thanks to olive and sunflower seed oil, shea butter and vitamin E.
Too Faced appears to be winning the matte liquid lipstick game with this best-selling lippie. It boasts the staying power of a stain with incredible colour payoff, all in a gorgeous unique tube that’s a joy to behold. Add to that the fact that it’s long-wearing and not too drying on the lips, and you can see why it’s constantly selling out.
One of my favourite budget liquid lipsticks, Nyx’s Soft Matte Lip Cream says it as it means it: It’s matte with a whipped mousse-like texture and doesn’t dry out your lips. It may not be long-lasting or transfer-proof, but it looks amazing on the lips and comes in a large range of colours that won’t put a dent in your bank account.
I love the bold shades in this range, and Parisian Red is such a wearable red for all skin tones! This creamy lipstick formula also gives your lips pretty good hydration and doesn’t play up the unflattering lines on your lips.
Nars launched this hybrid lip product just a few months ago. It’s a cross between a lip gloss and a lipstick, which means it’s incredibly pigmented with high shine. Of course, it’s also got an element of versatility to it. Blot the lipstick down for a more natural finish, or build it up for that juicy shine. There are several reds in the range, but Disruptor is a limited edition shade that’s going to make a bold statement.
