The popular holiday colourways of green and red don’t have to look chintzy. Avoid the ‘80s cliche by incorporating varying shades of green eyeshadow. Plump, orange-red lips are a necessary detail to recreate this photo-worthy look.
Inner eye colour strobing
‘Tis the season to elevate a run-of-the-mill winged cat eye with some red eyeshadow (or lipstick) in the inner corners of the eyes.
Scarlet pout and glowing skin
Dewy skin and bright red lips make the perfect festive season pairing. Makeup artist Manisa Tan suggests taking your glow to the next level by dusting some powder highlighter over your cream highlighter.
Go bold and play around with jewel-toned eyeshadows. If you really want to make a statement, this oversized graphic liner is guaranteed to turn heads. Manisa recommends giving yourself ample time to get the shape right, and keep micellar water and cotton swabs on hand to clean up any mistakes.
Brick red lips and neutral eyes
For a more edgy take on the classic red lippy, opt for a deep berry or wine shade in a satiny finish. Complete the look by lining your inner upper and lower waterlines with brown eyeliner and adding a wash of shimmery neutral eyeshadow to the lids, like what Manisa did here.
XXL glitter wings
A smattering of glitter on the lids can add a festive touch to any look. Manisa suggests applying glitter liner on bare lids, or trace over a black liner for a more intense look. Bonus points if you spray a little hairspray over your tresses and sprinkle on any glitter of your choice.
