The complete eyecare routine that both pros and noobs need

Still not sure how you should be caring for your eyes or maximising your eye makeup? We’ve got you covered

It’s all about the eyes in this new normal. With the lower half of our faces obscured by mandatory mask-wear, there’s no place to look but upwards. Not that we’re complaining – it’s a nice change from our obsession with lipsticks.

Makeup aside, eyecare is important too. The longer hours spent in front of our laptops and mobile phones due to working from home, have resulted in our eyes feeling and looking more tired than before.

But with so many products, what works? Here are our new go-tos for a complete eye regimen that delivers results and is easy to use.

Eye makeup

Just as masks are our new normal, the new basic makeup look when you head outside is eye makeup, and that includes brows and lashes too. Be it getting a brow lamination, false lashes or experimenting with eyeshadows, here’s our pick of the best eye makeup to make your eyes look beautiful, done in six easy steps.

The complete eyecare routine that both pros and noobs need
Step 1: Conceal dark circles | Use: Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Brighten & Correct Duo, $49
image

The two-in-one face and under-eye concealer hides the appearance of dark circles to get you looking bright-eyed. The creamy, highly pigmented formula is long-lasting and withstands heat and humidity, making it the perfect mask-wear companion. Swipe the Brighten end under the eye, then dab with your ring finger to blend and conceal. Comes in 12 shades.

Available at Laura Mercier boutique, counters and its official store on Lazada.sg, Tangs.com, Sephora stores and Sephora.sg

Step 2: Fill in the brows | Use: Gucci Beauty Powder Eyebrow Pencil, $39
image

A dual-sided pencil with a spoolie on one end to keep the brows neat and defined. Best bit? It’s easy to use and its soft and pigmented nib goes on smoothly without dragging on skin. Fill in with light, feathery strokes, then use the spoolie to brush and blend. Comes in six shades.

Available at Gucci Beauty counters, Tangs.com, Sephora stores and Sephora.sg

Step 3: Prime the eyelids | Use: Tom Ford Emotionproof Eye Primer, $60
image

The last thing you need is for your eye makeup to migrate southwards when you’re out and about. Keep colours in place with an eye primer.

This one comes with a doe-foot applicator that allows you to apply the primer easily. Use the applicator to dab the primer onto the lids, then with your ring finger, lightly tap and blend out. The soft pink hue helps to instantly brighten and smoothen the area for a flawless, smear- and wrinkle-resistant finish.

Available at Tom Ford counters at Tangs at Tang Plaza and Tangs.com, and Takashimaya D.S.

Step 4: Add colour | Use: Urban Decay Naked Wild West Palette, $83
image

If you’re all about experimenting with your eye makeup, this vegan eyeshadow palette offers 12 desert-inspired shades, from pale peach and terracotta to a deep blue-green and turquoise, and in a range of finishes too – creamy matte, metallic and shimmer. Apply with your finger or use the double-ended brush.

Available at Sephora stores and Sephora.sg

Step 5: Define the eyes | Use: Chanel Stylo Ombre Et Contour in 38 Burgundy Perle and 40 Beige Perle, $53 each
image

A versatile product – when used on its tip, it defines the eyes as a kohl liner and when used on its flat edge, it delivers colour to the lids. Our fave way of using this: Lining the eyes and blending the colour out with our fingertip for a wash of colour.

The creamy texture glides along delicate skin without dragging, while the long-wear formula keeps its colour intensity throughout the day.

Available at Chanel Fragrance & Beauty boutiques and counters.

Step 6: The final touch – lashes | Use: Burberry Beauty Ultimate Lift Mascara in Pure Black No. 01, $54
image

Take your lashes from blah to va-va-voom with this hardworking mascara that curls, lengthens and volumises lashes with ease. The buildable, clump-free formula allows you to achieve different looks, from natural to dramatic.

Available at Burberry Beauty counters and sg.Burberry.com

For Preventive Ageing: Dr Dennis Gross B3Adaptive SuperFoods SOS Eye Cream, $98

Contains micro capsules of superfoods, such as coffee, acai, goji and cordyceps, together with adaptogens derived from herbs and mushrooms to help the body adapt to stressors and promote healing, and niacinamide (vitamin B3), this gentle eye cream hydrates and strengthens skin, while de-puffing and brightening the delicate eye area.

For Extra Pampering: Est.Lab OptimaLift A+ Intelligent Eye Revitaliser Tri-Action Massager 2.0, $106
image

Elevate your eye care game with this high-tech gadget. It’s the perfect remedy to relieve fatigue and refresh the eye area via a three-prong approach: sonic vibrations in three intensities to improve circulation, detox and de-puff; a therapeutic hot compress in nine heat settings to soothe; red LED light to promote collagen production. Pair with your favourite eye serum or eye cream and use it for one minute.
