If you love the soft, natural yet defined brows that Korean celebrities sport, eyebrow powders are the way to achieve them. Unlike eyebrow pencils and pomades, eyebrow powders give a less harsh, more ethereal look, and one that isn’t as saturated. “Powders do not contain wax to hold your eyebrows in place, but they are great for filling in the empty gaps between hairs,” says Nur Shireen, a freelance makeup artist of seven years.

“Brow powders can be used on their own or to set a brow pomade. This helps with defining the colour and increasing the longevity of the pomade. Alternatively, you can gel or wax your brows first and add in the brow powder afterwards to give your brows a natural tint. Finally, neaten up the brow shape with a concealer to erase any untidy lines and use a brow gel or wax to fix the brows.”

Shireen has more tips for those dipping their toes into brow powders. For one, use a small angled brush to “draw” quick lines in between existing hairs to fake thicker brows. The angled brush also helps to create a crisp outline for your brow shape. Moreover, choose brow powders that are not too dark. If you have bleached hair, you can opt for a light brown powder to match your hair. If you have dark hair, go for dark brown instead of black.
