I used to be too lazy to apply blusher, but have been getting a lot better at wearing it lately in an effort not to look too washed out. While I’ve always opted for powder blushes, I’ve been really drawn to cream or cushion ones lately because they just melt into the skin, which makes them perfect for days where I haven’t got a matte foundation on my face and want a little sheen to the skin. If you too are after a lovely natural flush that looks as if it’s coming from within, then cream and cushion blushes are the way to go!

What looks like a bottle of nail polish is actually a lip and cheek product with an intriguing souffle-like finish. The product comes with a felt tip applicator, but I recommend using clean fingers to dab on the tiniest amount directly onto your face and then blending it out, as a little goes a long way.
The brand has released two new shades for the holidays, 22 Peche Irreverent (a dusty light pink) and 23 Rose Imprudent (a deeper chestnut-rose). The latter has become my new go-to shade for no-makeup makeup days because the depth and warmth of the hue looks really flattering on my medium-toned skin!

This little cream lip and cheek product has a rather unique texture to it – it feels almost dry to the touch, but has a mousse-like consistency when applied with quite a lot of slip to it. It blends nicely and doesn’t get patchy when layered with other products. I like the more subtle shade range compared to many other lines of cream blushes – it’s hard to overdo it with this blush, which makes it a great option for beginners or someone who doesn’t use blush too often. You can build up the coverage if you like, or leave it sheer for the slightest hint of a tint.

It smells great, blends well, and lasts for ages on the skin. What I also like about this is that there are more wearable work-appropriate shades like Exposed mixed in with some other brighter and fun sparkly shades for days when you want to glam it up a little. There are eight shades to choose from in total, which means there’s something for every occasion and every makeup look!

A more sheer formula compared to the other cream and souffle products, this blush comes in a squeeze tube with a cushion applicator at the end. I like that the formula has more of a dewy sheer finish, but if you plan to blend it in with the cushion tip, make sure you start slow and squeeze a tiny amount of product out at a time. You really only want to be able to see the product rising through the cushion, but not oozing out of it.
I made the mistake of squeezing out too much and the cushion tip became too saturated to blend it out nicely.

I’ve been in love with the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams since I first tried them out, so I had high hopes that this new souffle lip product would be just as amazing! While I don’t like it on my lips as much as the Soft Matte Lip Cream, it works really great on the cheeks.
I’d consider this a cheaper dupe for the Yves Saint Laurent Beaute lip and cheek blush mentioned earlier, but it doesn’t blend out as easily and is less forgiving, which means you need to blend it as soon as you’ve applied it. The colour is also a tad stronger, which means you should start with less product and add as you go.

This one is perfect if you want a non-greasy glow to your cheeks. It’s easy to blend but sets nicely and does not budge. It’s one of the first cream blush formulas I tried, and while it might seem a little “dry” in the pan, it does work well when buffed into the skin.
You can even try applying it with a damp makeup sponge for a really seamless effect. What I like about the shade range is that there are a couple of really intense colours for party looks, but also more natural and wearable ones to rock for work.

I love chubby makeup sticks. They’re cute and fit into your handbag, but also really fun to draw on your face. This creamy blush from K-Beauty brand 3CE glides on nicely and is quite pigmented. It blends well without settling into pores, but it also dries down to somewhat of a matte finish, which means your cheeks won’t look overly dewy, especially if you have more oily skin. This is available in five bubbly shades to create your ideal Korean beauty look, and aren’t too expensive, either.

Since I discovered these cushion compact blushes, I always carry one with me in my bag. It’s really the most compact tool for blush application on the go without getting your fingers dirty. The formula tends to be a lot more liquid, which makes it sink into the skin and apply more sheer at first so it can even be applied throughout the day on top of your existing makeup.
Though you can sheer it out, this one from Lancome is rather pigmented, which makes this more of a buildable formula that comes in a nice shade range for different skin tones. It’s also got a really lovely cooling sensation when you apply it to your cheeks.
