Hair salons are now allowed to offer their full range of hair services, post circuit breaker. And since it was announced, your hair salon has been busy looking into their operations, processes and techniques, to keep customers safe (read all about the measures salons are taking to keep you safe).
However, is it wise to spend a whole day at the salon for hair cut + hair colouring + hair treatment all at one sitting? Probably not. Here are some ways to minimise time at the salon and still achieve some of your #hairgoals.
Because of safe distancing measures, hair salons won’t be taking walk-ins.
When you make your booking, let the salon know what service you’ll be doing – cut only, colour and cut, perm and cut, so they can allocate the time needed for each session. If not, your salon may not be able to accommodate you when you’re there, and you may have to return at another time.
Show up on time. Being late will cause the time to overlap with the next appointment and can create a delay for everyone else that follows.
And because most salons are now adopting a 1:1 customer-client ratio, your hairstylist won’t be able to accept his or her next customer until you leave.
According to the salons we spoke to, weekdays are quieter. This works both ways. For the salon: more time to turn around between customers, and a more relaxed session for your hair stylist, who won’t feel as rushed.
For you, feeling more reassured that you’re not exposing yourself to a crowded place.
If you’re thinking of bleaching and colouring your hair, think again. To minimise time spent out of your home, Oscar Lee, associate director of Chez Vous: Hideaway Salon, advises you avoid services that can take up the whole day – anything that takes more than six hours – for now.
If you’ve got a regular hairstylist, save time by dropping him/her a message of what you want to get done – even better if you’ve got pictures, especially if you’re looking to change up your look.
This not only minimises physical face-to-face consultation time in the salon but can also help your stylist allocate ample time for each session to maintain safe social distancing.
