We went scouting on Instagram and YouTube to find the nourishing face masks loved by Asian celebs such as Shu Qi, Son Ye-jin and Park Min-young. Now, you might already have your own masking routine, whether it is a sheet or sleeping mask, but it doesn’t hurt to explore these celeb-approved options!
Son Ye-jin can give anyone a decade younger a run for their money, thanks to her multi-masking technique. For her chin, Son uses the Soothe-n-Purify Black Gold Mask to calm and detox with a combination of charcoal, gold and a whole slew of plant extracts. In a video on her YouTube channel where Park Min-young disclosed what was in her bag, she shared that she always carries a facial mask with her when she is filming. She would put it on right before makeup or if she has to wait a long time between takes to give her skin a pick-me-up. The Sooryehan Chunsam Radiant White Mask she used contains eight antioxidant-rich plant extracts to improve elasticity and radiance.

Grail Skin was founded by The Story of Yanxi Palace actor at the start of 2021 and the Do-It-All masks are one of two star products they currently offer. The mask is made with regenerated nano filament that fit better to the skin and contains ingredients including Japanese sea green caviar, Icelandic chamomile and copper tripeptide. Overall, the mask touts brightening and anti-ageing benefits.

Kim Lim revealed that she believes the use of face masks has always been “one of the most important things in anyone’s skincare routine”. Seen here with the first product of her own beauty brand, Illumia Therapeutics, is the Baby Drops Mask. The mask is made with coconut gel and is infused with stem cell cultures, camellia callus culture extract and portulaca oleracea extract to moisturise and improve skin elasticity.
The Baby Drops Mask, however, seems to be discontinued but the brand has a new iteration in their line-up. The All 1n One Mask, $48 for 5, contains anti-ageing salmon DNA, hydrating hyaluronic acid, firming and brightening adenosine and niacinamide as well as barrier-strengthening hydrolysed collagen.

In a Vogue Beauty Secrets video, Tiffany showed her 18-step daytime beauty routine which included the Hanacure mask. It is a soothing gel mask that uses Octolift technology to tighten and lift while clarifying the skin. The rinse-off mask contains ingredients such as soothing beta-glucan, various peptides that lift and brighten as well as lotus flower, white peony and sophora root extracts.

If you didn’t know, Taiwanese star Ouyang Nana has her own YouTube channel too. In a video where she reposted a clip from her Xiaohongshu, a Chinese social media platform, she shared this A By Bom sheet mask. This mask has two parts – leave-shaped patches to target specific areas such as smile lines, wrinkles and under-eyes, and a sheet mask. Both contain extracts such as plant basil, cactus, lemon balm and aloe.

Chinese star Fan Bing Bing is known for her fervent love for face masks, reportedly going through over 700 masks in a year. A favourite that she depends on is from her own beauty brand, Fan Beauty. The star ingredient is the Japanese sea grape extract that promotes hydration together with a cocktail of B vitamins and hyaluronic acid.

Somi shared in a Harper’s Bazaar Go To Bed With Me video that her hairstylist first recommended it to her and she has fallen for it since. The three-step mask contains an eye contour gel, cream and a sheet mask, each chock-full of ingredients that target wrinkles, fine lines, dull skin, pigmentation and dehydration. The sheet mask also has a cheerful bright egg-yolk yellow hue.

In a video on Jessica’s YouTube channel where she clued us in on her skincare routine, she shared that she uses the Serein Hydrating Luxury Mask from her line Blanc & Eclare. The mask contains ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and adenosine and she added that it is both firming and hydrating. The mask is not available on the brand website at the moment though.
