Here's how you can build a fragrance wardrobe like a beauty editor
For Everyday Wear: Dior Miss Dior Eau de Parfum, $240 for 100ml
image

Synonymous with the French fashion house for over 70 years, Miss Dior was its first perfume and was created as an homage to Monsieur Christian Dior’s sister, Catherine.

Encapsulating the joie de vivre of her, this vivicious scent was at once feminine and bold. Fast forward to 2017, and Parfums Christian Dior Perfume-Creator, Francois Demachy revisited the iconic scent and injected his signature in this modern take of femininity. With voluptuous rose sourced from Grasse and Damascus, fresh Calabrian bergamot, pink pepper and rosewood, this well-balanced scent is elegant and alluring, perfectly representing the modern Dior woman, who’s strong, unapologetic and at ease with her sensuality. Of course it doesn’t hurt that it leaves an addictive trail you simply can’t get enough of.

For Casual Weekends: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense Pour Femme Eau de Parfum, $168 for 100ml

If you like spending your weekends surrounding yourself with friends and family over good food and wine, this scent could be what you’re looking for. While the fragrance was designed to evoke a summer getaway to Capri, its citrusy-floral profile is perfect for hot days in our tropical island. A blend of lemons, marigold, jasmine and musks lies at the heart of this scent, making it light and refreshing—a total crowd pleaser.

For Cocktails Hour: Chanel Gabrielle Eau de Parfum, $180 for 50ml

When you’re headed out for drinks, it’s only natural that you reach for something sexier. Try Chanel’s Gabrielle, which was created by Chanel perfumer Olivier Polge. When asked about his creative process, Polge spoke about re-examining traditional floral ingredients that were important to the House’s fragrances.

As a result, he created a unique Chanel blossom, a blend of four creamy white flowers which Coco Mademoiselle herself adored: jasmine, ylang-ylang, orange blossom and tuberose.

By paying homage to the House’s archives and incorporating new extraction techniques, Polge created a luminous and vibrant concoction that speaks to modern women in a way that Mademoiselle herself would surely approve.

For A Lunch Date: Chloé Love Story Eau Sensuelle Eau de Parfum, $147 for 50ml
image

As its name suggests, this perfume is made to evoke emotions associated with love, like tenderness, adoration and joy. With notes of orange blossom, yuzu, heliotrope, amber and musks, it forms a sheer veil on your skin, just like a gentle embrace shared between young lovers.

For A Dinner Date: Gucci Bloom Eau de Parfum, $216 for 100ml

In the creation of Gucci’s first feminine fragrance under the direction of Alessandro Michele, the scent has been described as “a thriving garden filled with an abundance of flowers”. Michele worked with Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas to arrive at a scent that represents the diversity of women, thanks to the varied nuances of tuberose, jasmine and Rangoon creeper. This intoxicating floral explosion is no-holds-barred woman, making it the perfect go-to for a sexy dinner date.

The Scent To Steal From Your Man: Bottega Veneta Pour Homme Parfum Eau de Parfum, $240 for 90ml
image

There’s something incredibly sexy about wearing a man’s perfume. Perhaps it reminds you of those hours spent cuddling with your partner, or it could just be the way you love how the notes in men’s perfumes smell on you.

If it’s the latter, look no further. Made of the most prized raw ingredients found in men’s perfumes, this luxurious eau fuses cedar leaves, cardamom, pimento, fir balsam, tonka beans and leather accents for a seductive trail. Warm and sensual, this scent lingers on for hours on end—not a bad thing when it reminds you of being in your man’s arms.

For A Beach Vacation: Maison Martin Margiela Beach Walk Eau de Toilette, $145 for 100ml
image

Pack this in your bag the next time you jet off to a beach vacay, or simply keep it handy to transport yourself to a happier place as it perfectly captures the joy you feel when talking a idyllic stroll by the beach. With an injection of ocean breeze, citrus, coconut milk and musk, you can almost feel the ocean breeze in your hair, hear the waves crashing on the sand, and taste the pina colada in your mouth.

For A Cosy Winter Night: Penhaligon’s Portraits Collection Clandestine Clara Eau de Parfum, $400 for 75ml
image

Nothing is more comforting on a frigid winter night than staying in by the fireplace with a warm glass of mulled wine. The next time you head to the Swiss Alps for your annual ski trip or to New York City to experience the urban jungle’s magical Christmas season, pack this scent along with you. A few spritzes and you’re surrounded by its smoky, velvety and woody air.

Complex and multi-faceted, it is a smooth melange of rum, vanilla, cinnamon with a touch of amber and patchouli which, if you ask us, sounds exactly like the ideal cocktail we’d want to be drinking when it’s snowing outside.
