What is your self-care routine?
My at-home self-care routine is usually a hair and body scrub in the shower, followed by cleansing my face, then finishing off with toner, moisturiser and sunscreen.
I’ll do a face mask once a week Occasionally, I’ll get a good blowout. It always makes me feel fresher and ready to conquer the world!
How has your beauty routine changed during the pandemic?
I’ve never really used setting spray in the past because my foundation is quite lightweight, but since we started wearing masks, it’s a new addition to my routine. I love how it prevents makeup transfer.
What beauty trend are you most excited to try in 2022?
Brightly coloured makeup! Bright eyeliners, eyeshadows (and even fashion items) are coming back into trend.
Since I’ll be working on new music next year, I would love to experiment with fun, bold makeup looks, especially for music videos.
What is your self-care routine?
I love to go for a run, or sit down and read a book. Doing these things even for 20 minutes of my day really helps me destress and clear my head.
How has your beauty routine changed during the pandemic?
I’ve learnt how to use my skincare products more efficiently and effectively. For example, using vitamin C in the morning with sunscreen, and using retinol once every few days and night.
What beauty trend are you most excited to try in 2022?
In terms of makeup, I’m really looking forward to using more colourful liners and being more experimental with my eyeliner styles, instead of just sticking to my go-to cat eye.
I’m also looking forward to more vegan and sustainable skincare options.
Why is self-care so important?
I’ve always been open about my mental health struggles, and self- care plays a big role in that. If you want to find happiness, put your health first. To me, self-care is knowing when to say “no”, where to draw the line, and doing the things that make me happy, like spending time with my son. Seeing my loved ones happy makes me happy.
What beauty trend are you most excited to try in 2022?
I’m excited for more multi-functional, all-rounded beauty and skincare products. We don’t just experience one skin problem at a time, so treatments that can tackle several problems at one go are more convenient and effective.
This is something I’m hoping to incorporate in my Illumiaskin and Papilla Scalp products.
What are your current beauty obsessions?
Nose threads, Thermage, Prime Sculpt Pro and Cooltech 360. Inner health is also something I’m excited about. I believe that when you are healthy inside, it’ll translate to how you look on the outside.
What are some beauty lessons you’ve learnt in the past year?
Not to fight ageing, but to learn to embrace what I see in the mirror.
What is one beauty habit you adopted in the new normal?
I found myself having more time for masking. I’ve been trying a different type of mask every day.
What beauty trend are you most excited to try in the new year?
Big hair and radiant blush. I want to go back to the ‘90s!
What are some beauty lessons you’ve learnt in the past year?
I’ve learnt that we shouldn’t wait to set time aside for ourselves. I’m a firm believer in self-care and how it’s linked to our mental health, so we must prioritise ourselves and our health, especially during a pandemic and all the hectic work schedules.
How has your beauty routine changed during the pandemic?
My beauty routine has gotten a little more extensive. I started using more beauty tools and facial devices like the Foreo Bear and UFO 2, which I’d normally not have time for if the pandemic didn’t cause us to slow down and take care of ourselves.
What are your current beauty obsessions?
I swear by chemical exfoliation with acids like AHAs and BHAs, I love vitamin C serums, and I always wear sunscreen – even when it’s cloudy!
What are some beauty lessons you’ve learnt in the past year?
Focus on what you need. I used to get super overwhelmed with all the beauty products on the market, but then a friend asked me, “What do you actually need?” One simple question, but it definitely helped me identify the areas/skin concerns I want to focus on.
How has your beauty routine changed during the pandemic?
Pre-pandemic, my skincare routine was simple, consisting solely of a cleanser and moisturiser. But during this pandemic, I’ve had a lot more time to myself, and can actually feel how my skin feels!
I’ve since upgraded my routine to include not just one, but a few toners stacked together for different times of the day.
What are your current beauty obsessions?
Since my skin type leans towards being dry, a lot of the skincare products in my arsenal focus on hydration.
These are some that I swear by: Decorte Liposome, Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream and Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream. I use this in the morning to reduce puffy eyes – so helpful, especially on shoot days. And last but not least, Comfort Zone Hydramemory Cream Gel – you can feel the difference in hydration, especially when you wake up the next day.
