If there’s one thing every makeup lover needs to know this week, it’s this – Dolce and Gabbana opened its first-ever beauty boutique called La Casa here in Singapore in ION Orchard. In the Casa, you will also find the Dolce and Gabbana makeup collection – and this marks the D&G makeup range‘s first foray into the SEA region.
Before you pay your pilgrimage to the store, here are some basic facts to arm yourself with:
Dolce & Gabbana was founded by fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in 1985. The company is based in Milan, and now boasts fashion, perfumes, furniture, and makeup business arms.
You may also remember the 2018 Dolce and Gabbana promotional video saga that erupted in China – after which, the brand has been careful to remedy its missteps and losses.
When you walk around the Dolce and Gabbana Beauty boutique in ION Orchard, you will spot repetitive patterns. These patterns are all cues to the five main themes of the brand, namely:
- Animalier (leopard): An indomitable spirit; feline
- Black Lace: Sensual, elegant, tragedy, love, tradition
- Roses and Flowers: Romantic, love, passion, friendship
- Sicilian Chart: Art, culture, iconic, lively, rich
- Baroque and Damasco: Triumph, gold, art, history, baroque
You will realise Dolce and Gabbana’s signature skincare ingredient is Calle the Mediterranean Glow Complex – a mixture of natural Mediterranean fig extract, organic Italian olive oil, hyaluronic acid that’s made possible by Shiseido’s in-house technology.
Not too sure which Dolce and Gabbana makeup products are the popular ones? Let us help you. Let’s start with this eye-catching illuminating powder blush – the Solar Glow Illuminating Powder Duo ($95) which comes in four shades. On the left, you’ll find a highlighter. On the right, a blush or bronzer.

Here’s the latest launch that you need to know about: the ultra-reflective lip lacquer called Shinissimo ($59, pronounce: shin-i-ssimo). The formula comes in 14 shades, is lightweight, super shiny, and packed with colour pigments.
