The future of beauty shopping is at BHG’s new Beauty Hall

The future of beauty shopping is at BHG’s new Beauty Hall

Think robot assistants, interactive digital walls and spa cabins

by Ruth Chew  /   November 6, 2020

There’s nothing quite like walking through a department store’s Beauty Hall – with every turn, a new skincare cream, lotion, essence or balm to try. Or a carousel of colours for the face, eyes, cheeks and lips. Every time you visit, it seems like you walk out with a newer 2.0 version of you.

This was exactly what BHG had in mind when it reimagined its beauty floor at the flagship BHG Bugis store. The upgrades recreate an experience that is sensorially rich, while keeping safe distancing, health and hygiene at the top of mind.

The floor houses almost twice its original 48 brands – there’s now a whopping 94 beauty brands in its sprawling 13,000 square feet space, including 12 international names. You can also expect a world of “firsts” in never-seen-before interactive beauty experiences. Imagine virtual sampling and algorithms for your face creams.

What’s New: Beauty Library

Within the Beauty Hall itself sits a newly carved out space – the first for a Beauty Hall in Singapore. Called Beauty Library, it features 20 nature-inspired labels, including 14 BHG-exclusive brands, to cater to the eco- and additive-conscious.

Another first: Look out for the Lift and Learn digital wall at Beauty Library, which allows customers to discover a thematic selection of products. All you need to do is lift the product from the stand for information about it to appear on the screen. And as this is the Beauty Hall of the future, customers can even scan a QR code that will take them to complete their payments online.

Ever adaptive, BHG’s Beauty Hall makes cashless payments a breeze with its mobile payment systems across the floor – there’s no need to queue up for your turn to pay. Just look for the roving cashier with a tablet-like device strapped across her body, whip out your credit card, and pay. A receipt will immediately be e-mailed to you, as proof of purchase. BHG has also partnered with Hoolah, allowing budget-friendly options over three months, interest-free.

Watch Her World’s Digital Editor Estelle and NuYou’s Associate Beauty Editor Pei Mei explore the BHG’s Beauty Hall and try out some of the technology at the counters.

Here’s a look at the exclusive firsts at BHG’s new Beauty Hall:

What’s New: Digital Theatre for Beauty

Considering safe distancing, as well as health and safety, BHG’s new Beauty Hall puts together interactive experiences that are backed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create 3-D visuals to showcase products, using big data through algorithms to create custom beauty treatments for everyone.

Skinceuticals (AI robot + holographic 3-D showcase)

Founded on antioxidant research for cancer recovery, Skinceuticals uses the highest medical-grade formulations with pharmaceutical-grade ingredients for its skincare. Its famous CE Ferulic Acid with 15 per cent L-Ascorbic Acid is a top seller all over the world.

At its BHG counter, the brand’s largest department store presence, get to know the universe of Skinceuticals through an immersive experience using holographic 3-D visuals.

What’s more, its first-ever roving AI Robot Assistant is primed to give customers a mini tour of its counter, providing product details, sharing ongoing promotions, and even helping customers sign up for its loyalty programme.

Another brand first: the digital Lift and Learn Wall, where you can learn about all its products and their uses in an interactive way.

Maison 21G (AI-powered app)

Founded by perfumier Johanna Monange, who has over 20 years of experience in the fragrance industry, the bespoke fragrance brand believes in giving the best in 21 grams. Using 21 per cent of perfume concentrate, the highest in the fragrance industry, Maison 21G allows scent personalisation like no other.

BHG is the brand’s first department store counter in Singapore. Here, Maison 21G will use an AI-powered app to blend the right mix and ingredients for each scent, according to your personality, personal taste and preferences, or even the occasion.

Lancôme (big data and advanced algorithms)

The French brand celebrates its winning anti-ageing serum, Advanced Genifique, with its first round Genifique table. Using big data and advanced algorithms, the brand is able to analyse skin conditions and give a comprehensive skin diagnostic. In addition, tools like the Skin Screen service and Shade Finder service will analyse skin to give comprehensive solutions for each skin type and condition.

What’s New: Sensory Cabins
image

No beauty experience is complete without a treatment for the senses. Case in point: the Spa Cabins at BHG, which pamper your skin and body in between shopping.

Clarins

New to BHG Bugis, the historic French brand offers eight express treatments in its Open Spa, the first-ever in a department store. Each is reasonably priced at $38 for a 30-minute session, which includes a 10-minute consultation and a 20-minute treatment.

Clé de Peau Beauté (New to BHG)

Japan’s leading luxury skincare brand opens its maiden counter at BHG with an adjoining spa cabin. The products’ superb technology focused on ultra-refined formulations allows for intelligent active ingredients, from its skincare to makeup. Its luxurious signature treatments are available here, offering a selection of its Soin de Beaute treatments for glowing, radiant and firm skin in 90 minutes.

Decorté (New to BHG)

The Japanese beauty brand’s space is inspired by its flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo. Its Spa Cabin features facial services, fusing its advanced skincare using liposomes to repair skin, leaving it firm and supple.

Sisley

The family-owned French brand researches its own skincare and products, focusing on phyto-cosmetology – utilising quality plant extracts to create effective and luxurious skincare and cosmetics. The Spa Cabin at BHG will feature some of its signature facials that promise toned, resilient and softer skin for all skin types. Be sure to enjoy the Sisley aromatherapy and breathing techniques, while the knots on your shoulders and neck are kneaded away as part of the 90-minute treatment.

Skinceuticals

The brand puts its skincare science into practice here for its members. Its new treatment features pure oxygen infusion to revitalise skin cells, with the help of the brand’s best-selling CE Ferulic Serum and the antioxidant-rich Vitamin C masque. You should see brighter, smoother and firmer skin in 30 minutes.

What’s New: Fashionable Beauty

Gucci Beauty

It’s the brand’s first-ever “island-counter” design in South-east Asia. This is also the only counter to feature both Gucci Beauty’s makeup and fragrances together. It’s a throwback to the 1950s, as seen in its floral motifs and Art-Deco gold-gilded cosmetic cases, which look oh-so-pretty. Check out the Lipstick Trio Kit, a three-finish palette featuring the brand’s famous No. 25 lipstick shade in an exclusive for BHG.

Burberry Beauty

The British fashion brand’s beauty line has been reimagined by creative director Riccardo Tisci in its first beauty counter in Singapore. Featuring rediscovered hues of the house’s Archive Beige from an ’80s knit design, the Burberry Beauty counter is exclusive to BHG Singapore and features the brand’s signature cosmetics.

NARS

The French cosmetics brand is known for its intense shades and smooth textures that go from runway to real way. And the brand makes it easier to find the perfect shade now with its virtual try-on tool powered by YouCam app, which lets you “test” each shade as you stand in front of the interactive screen.

What’s New: Hair Tech
image

Dyson

The forward-thinking tech company’s foray into beauty is making waves – literally, from its Supersonic hairdryers that leave no damage to its Airwrap Stylers that work for every length. Pick up some styling tips at the counter and walk out with a brand-new coif.

What’s New: The New Frontier of Eco-consciousness
image

Always at the forefront of beauty, BHG is also conscious of the impact on the environment, which is why it is reducing single-use plastics and encouraging all shoppers to Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB). Alternatively, you can purchase a reusable BHG Beauty Library tote from the Beauty Library counter to take your haul home.
