Yet another Korean actress has become the center of much social media buzz and this time, it’s 28-year-old Kim Go-eun. You may know her as Jung Tae-eul or Luna in the new Netflix series The King: Eternal Monarch that aired its 1st episode in late April. The show is only at its 4th episode but has already garnered much attention from K-drama fans since its release.
Of course, even though many of us have been fans of Kim Go-eun since her first hit movie A Muse in 2012, it doesn’t hurt that the new Netflix series she’s in also stars the gorgeous Lee Min-ho, who plays Lee Gon (here’s why the actor decided to take up this role).
And while we’re kept on the edge of our seats as watch as the duo navigate their way through the intriguing world of time-travel, many K-beauty fiends also tune in to get some much needed #beautyinspo from the main actress. From on-screen looks to off-screen ensembles, we’ve rounded up 7 of Kim Go-eun’s best hair and beauty get-ups to cop.
If don’t have that extra few minutes to spare to complete a complicated eye look, take some inspiration from Kim Go-eun and sweep some orange eyeshadow on your lids. It gives the illusion of wide eyes that look more awake, so you look put together without spending much effort.
Our tip is to grab a peachy shadow that’s a few shades darker than your skin tone and, using a wet brush, sweep the pigment from the inner corners to the crease. You can add some extra oomph to your look by popping some shimmery translucent shadow at the inner corners.
Kim Go-eun’s got that no-makeup makeup look going on here: light brows, no eyeshadow and just a touch of blush. The best way to ramp up such a look is by adding a bright lipstick – it’ll instantly look like you put it more effort than you actually did.
Before applying your pink lippie, remember to give you lips some TLC by treating them to a lip scrub to remove any dry skin and ensure that they stay plump and hydrated all day.
K-beauty trends come and go, but unlike mochi skin that’s been replaced by cream skin, the radiant skin trend is here to stay. Radiant skin is bouncy, supple skin that has a natural glow to it without appearing oily or greasy.
The first step to achieve skin like Kim Go-eun’s (and many other Korean celebs who can’t seem to get enough of this trend) is using an ultra-hydrating moisturiser that works hard to smoothen dry patches on the skin, so your complexion appears smooth and supple. And on makeup days, use a hydrating foundation with a satin finish for that effortless radiant look.
If you haven’t had a chance to read our guide to the new K-beauty brow trends of 2020, we’ll give you the lowdown on the most popular brow style here: straight brows.
This arch-free brow trend has been spotted on many other celebs, making it to go-to brow look for many of us too. Achieve this look by tweezing the stray brow hairs that gather at the arch for clean brow shape. Then, use a brow pencil to draw thin, hair-like strokes for thicker-looking brows.
Switch things up with your hairdo and try cutting some bangs to add some structure to your look. It’s not straight-cut bangs so you won’t have to worry about it falling below your brows.
Instead, these bangs split in the middle which can be easily pinned up should you want your hair put of your face. Pair this bangin’ look with wavy curls which can be easily achieved with a 1-inch curling barrel.
Nothing says you mean business better than a sleeked-back low pony like the one Kim Go-eun is rocking here. Be it at a day at the office, on a Zoom call or just a casual date night, this look makes the perfect statement while keeping the hair out of your face.
To recreate this look, take a comb, spritz it with your favourite hairspray, and create a center parting from the crown of your head. Using a black elastic (to be extra sleek) to tie the ponytail in place and don’t forget top it all off with more hairspray so your hairdo lasts all day.
Kim Go-eun may have had long hair in The King: Eternal Monarch, but our favourite hair look of hers is this long bob that’s short enough to accentuate her facial features but not too short that it appears boyish.
To mimic her natural waves, grab a sea salt spray and spritz it on the ends of your hair while scrunching it up. And if you’re got super straight hair, whip out your curling iron to get the job done instead.
