There’s a lot of emphasis on natural everything these days, from food to skincare. Rightly so, we say, since natural is usually best.That said, there’s a horrifying amount of chemicals in something we put in our mouths daily, and that’s our toothpaste. Some of these chemicals include fluoride, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), artificial flavours, sweeteners, propylene glycol and triclosan. Each with a list of potential side-effects from irritation to allergies, and hormonal imbalance to cancers.

 

While many experts say that the amount of chemicals in toothpastes are minimal, and you’re not supposed to ingest them, we would rather go chemical-free when it comes to cleaning our pearly whites. Here are 7 natural toothpastes to try.
