Think that doing the deed won’t be as much fun when you’re no longer as young and nubile? Then you ought to know that sex actually gets better as you get older. Can’t imagine how that’d be the case? We got Dr Martha Tara Lee, a clinical sexologist at Eros Coaching, to explain.
1. You'll know what you want
“As you get older, you become more self-assured and clear on what you need and want sexually. As such, you’ll be able to confidently articulate these needs and even show your partner how to cater to them if necessary.”
2. You’ll be less afraid to leave the light on
“You’ll realise that we all have insecurities about our body and will find it easier to let go of the need to be perfect. You may also recognise that your partner is happy to just touch and connect with you in an intimate way, and that all your imperfections are actually insignificant to them.”
3. You'll learn how to receive better
“You’ll understand that your partner also receives pleasure from giving and that you don’t always have to be the one to please them. You can then enjoy receiving as much as you give.”
4. You'll become more playful
5. You won't tolerate what doesn’t feel good
“You probably won’t be as tolerant of substandard sex or relationships as you’ll recognise that time and energy are expendable resources and that you shouldn’t keep what doesn’t serve you anymore. This will help you become more selective about who you let into your life and bedroom.”
6. You'll be less fixated on sex tips
“You’ll realise that sex tips are just suggestions, and that what works for somebody else might not work for you. You’ll be less focused on getting things right and quit comparing your love or sex life with others.”
7. You’ll realise that you're actually pretty good
“Awkward sex will be a thing of the past as you’d have gained sexual knowledge, experience, and confidence over the years. And when you’re more relaxed, your partner will be too, so the both of you will be able to have a good time.”
