Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards, dubbed the Chinese “Oscars”, took place last Saturday (25 Nov) evening. As both up-and-coming and veteran stars arrived at the ceremony to cheering fans, Ella Chen and actress Shu Qi were among the big names set to walk down the red carpet in Taipei’s Sen Yat-sen Memorial Hall. The awards ceremony was no lacking in heartfelt emotions and tears of victory. The ever-endearing Vicky Chen, 14, won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in “The Bold, the Corrupt, and the Beautiful”, while her on-camera mother, actress Kara Wai, bagged Best Leading Actress for her role as the manipulative matriarch of the family.
The film then went on to claim the title of Best Feature Film – a noteworthy accomplishment.

Making history as the youngest-ever best actress nominee for her role in Chinese drama Angels Wear White, the teenage newcomer also beat other established stars to win the title of Best Supporting Actress. Dressed in a diaphanous pea blue tulle dress with dotted mesh details and dreamy ruffle detailing, the young actress looked straight out of a fairytale.
