Many feathers in the forty-year-old’s cap

Consider this a digital doffing of our Philip Treacy hats to our Female mag counterparts, who, on a personal note, we can see hunkered down at work a polished precious stone’s throw away from us right this instant.

We’re unapologetic appreciators of alliteration, so brace yourselves: Female at forty is fun, fresh and fabulous, especially with the fantastic facelift for its April issue.

Amusingly enough, the mag’s creative editor Jeanette Ejlersen is a wordsmith after our own heart; on the challenges ahead for Female, Jeanette says her team’s goal is to remain “relevant, resilient and resonant”.

Those three adjectives are resoundingly applicable to the nifty new collector’s edition for April 2014, with the sharp-as-slate masthead and layout, neon-bright fonts and clean, cerebral content.

Try getting your manicured paws on the limited edition box set (shown above), which sells at $18 per pop at Kinokuniya. Still waffling? The covetable coffee-table book comes with a choice of two neat Nars cosmetics pouches in red and black, as well as Nars beauty products worth up to $40. The regular glossy, at $7 per copy, will also offer a Nars cosmetics pouch in red or black.

Female fans can expect a full year of carousing and champagne-clinking, starting with a birthday bash on April 11, 2014 at the W Hotel, as well as a series of fashion label tie-ups and the annual Female Catwalk biggie.

We’ll let Jeanette have the last word: “I didn’t want to look back because the nascent Female and its present state are two completely different magazines; it’s two different eras. Furthermore, we’ve expanded the fashion and beauty sections to include pop culture, design and art. We are, and always have been, a fashion-forward magazine.”

Female’s limited edition box set, $18 each, is available exclusively at Kinokuniya. The April 2014 issue, $7 each, is available at selected supermarkets and bookstores. You can follow Female magazine on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
