In true Off-White fashion, the coveted classics from luxury shoemaker Jimmy Choo received a deconstructed, urban street makeover during Paris Fashion Week 2017. Beyond the Princess Diana references and even jaw-dropping appearances from veteran supermodels (looking at you, Naomi Campbell), Off-White had once again outdid itself with its SS18 show, unveiling the one fashion item which would soon be synonymous with pop culture everywhere. Hint: it’s perfectly reminiscent of your childhood fantasies.

In partnership with Jimmy Choo, Creative Director of Off-White Virgil Abloh debuted a 31-piece collection of shoes with 9 classic Jimmy Choo silhouettes reimagined with old world princess elements. We’re talking tiara-like chandelier embellishments, recurring floral motifs, but more prominently, plastic ruchings.

Labelled as “glass slippers” by the urban street label’s CD, these modern-day princess shoes uses the iconic Lance shoe as the reference before getting reworked into a new style and wrapped up in softly ruched PVC. Those who are a fan of leg-lengthening knee-high kicks can also join in on the fun with the collection’s structured boots which come encased in a tornado of tulle and plastic.

We also see the reemergence of au courant bow ties — but now, they come in XXL proportions. Adorning Jimmy Choo’s Mary pumps, the oversized bow engulfs almost half the shoe, offering a huge contrast to the delicate and refined stiletto silhouette.

Off-White x Jimmy Choo collection, price range unavailable. Available in all Off-White stores from mid-February onwards.
