Known for its contemporary designs and wearable pieces, British jewellery brand Monica Vinader has teamed up with street style icon Caroline Issa to design a 16-piece collection. The gorgeous Monica Vinader x Caroline Issa pieces are a combination of Vinader’s know-how of gemstones and Issa’s love for colour.
To symbolise the raw and unique beauty of women, each gemstone of the collection is hand-cut before they are attached to link chains, pendant necklaces and huggie earrings. Despite the arduous process of creating a link chain unique to the collection, Vinader believes it was worthwhile. “They are small delicate links, and so the craft and time required is quite long, but we wanted this chain to feel exactly as we had designed it, and did not want to compromise its look,” she said.
The gemstones used come in a delightful rainbow of colours such as ametrine (a combination of amethyst and citrine) and Aquamarine, which represent healing and trust respectively.
The fun collection, which is now available in Singapore, definitely captures the dynamics between the two women who were friends before becoming business partners. Issa struggles to recall how long they have known each other but remembers that they were introduced by a mutual friend who thought they would get on very well. And that friend was right.
Since then, Caroline and Tank Creative, her agency, have created Vinader’s campaigns over many seasons. “I love her appreciation of our jewellery as well as her style, so I mentioned it and she was so keen, then it all was very fast and we came up with a collection very quickly,” said Vinader.
When asked what her biggest challenge co-designing her first jewellery line was, Issa replied, “Drawing a line on where to stop! We had so many beautiful ideas but at some point, we had to make decisions and narrow our focus on just one.”
The future is bright for the two. While Vinader looks toward launching leather goods and expanding assortment of jewellery, Issa is excited at the possibility of creating more timeless and mindful pieces with people/brands she loves.
