After 47 years, the Juste un Clou line is getting an update. This iconic line was created in 1971 by Aldo Cipullo, the same person who created the popular Love series by Cartier, and is notable for its minimalist and androgynous aesthetic.

Compared to the classic version, the new small model series bracelets are slimmer (by 1mm), more flexible and has an ingenious design that does not need a hinge. The increased flexibility comes as a result of technical expertise and the manipulation of the mechanical properties of gold, and this means that the new bracelets can just be slipped on in one swift motion as compared to the classic’s hinged version.

The rings also got an update – they are slimmer and like the bracelet, can be worn alone or stacked for a different effect. But the bracelets and rings have one thing in common: They have been modified slightly to make them thinner and the bracelets are unhinged, which makes them more convenient and comfortable.

But we haven’t gotten to the best part of the update – the lowered price tag. The latest collection is almost 50 per cent cheaper than the classic, with the rings coming in from $1,550 (versus $3,150) and the bracelets from $4,250 (versus $9,350).

The new Cartier Juste un Clou collection, consisting of three rings and two bracelets, is available in yellow, white and rose gold and is available in stores now.
