Victoria’s Secret reportedly replace the gems in their famed Fantasy Bra with fake versions before it goes on tour.

The luxury fashion label reveals the iconic piece of lingerie annually in a star-studded ceremony. In 2010 Adriana Lima was given the honour of wearing the item, called the Bombshell. It boasted 3,000 diamonds and was rumoured to cost $2 million.

It’s now been claimed that after the annual unveiling – last year in New York – jewellers carefully take out most of the expensive gems in order to keep them safe.

“Before it goes on a globe-trotting tour jewellers secretly replace those diamond-encrusted cups with falsies! My source confessed the genuine gems are replaced with fakes for security purposes,” reports National Enquirer magazine.

The luxury lingerie pieces are renowned for being costly. The 2009 Harlequin Fantasy version was priced at $3 million while 2008’s Blake Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra was $5 million. The most expensive version was modelled by Gisele Bündchen in 2000 and was worth a jaw-dropping $15 million. © Cover Media
