The fashion house has opened its debut kids boutique in Milan, Italy. It includes pieces from the Young Versace line, which was first shown at a special international childrenswear exhibit in Florence earlier this year.
“The one-story, 538-square-foot lilac and white store is dominated by a merry-go-round, while the fashion house’s iconic Medusa head logo decorates the floor,” reports WWD.
The new shop is next to the firm’s Versace Home boutique located on Via Borgospesso. Young Versace is aimed at children from babies up to 12, with the company trying hard to make the collection fun and fashionable.
“This is a high-end, glamorous and colourful collection in line with the brand’s essence, with a touch of rock ‘n’ roll,” Gian Giacomo Ferraris, chief executive officer of Versace SpA, said when it was announced.
“Donatella Versace strongly supports and is behind the project, we have a state-of-the-art technological platform and supply chain, and we directly manage our core business.”
The firm isn’t the only famous one to make the move into childrenswear. Roger Vivier will launch a range of shoes for kids in March. The collection is called Roger Vivier — Jeune Fille, meaning Roger Vivier — Girl.
Included will be patent leather ballerina shoes in a series of eye-popping colours, which all include ankle straps that can be taken off. The items retail at $312, with money raised from the line going to a range of charities for young people. © COVER MEDIA
