Hometown designer Donna Karan presented her Spring/Summer 2013 collection for DKNY on September 9 at a Chelsea studio space. The show featured sporty and urban looks teamed with a selection of old-school accessories.

DKNY’s Spring/Summer collection was all about urban athleticism, with bodysuits featuring urban imagery, metallic leather jackets and the return of the fanny bag.

Urban athleticism for DKNY at NYFW

The iconic New York designer worked for the most part in urban colors like black and white with the occasional juicy injection of acid yellow outfits such as in a slit neoprene dress. Platform sneakers gave a sporty tone to the fluid maxidress.

A yellow silk shirt had an androgynous feel when paired with khaki trousers with a leg-lengthening black strip down the sides.

A staple in the DKNY collections, jeans for next spring were ankle-length and low-waisted, paired with long fluid trench-coats, for a look that made reference to the 1990s.

Feminine dresses were also highlighted by glossy modern accessories such as metallic pumps. Accessories featured in the show included baseball caps, leather knapsacks, fanny packs, headbands and bowling-style bags that added a New York edge to the outfits.
