From The Straits Times    |

I’ll confess, I’m not the best at keeping track of time. I can get lost for hours in a good book, or more often these days, my Instagram feed, resulting in missed bus stops, MRT stations and the start times of various appointments!

However I’ve always been hesitant to purchase a timepiece, partly due to the fact that my phone is the 2015 equivalent of a wristwatch and also due to the fact that sometimes, it does us good to lose track of measuring time and just live in the moment! And yet, these pieces of art caught my eye and have inspired a change of heart. It turns out that time-keeping can be an art all its own. This season, some of the world’s most luxe and coveted fashion houses have upped the ante with their Métiers d’Art collections. We dare you not to fall for these beauties:

Affordable timepieces:

Anne Klein

I love the cherry red beauty of this bold Anne Klein watch. Its sturdy cuff-like wrist strap and bolt details make it a statement accessory as well as a practical aide.

Prices start from $135 upwards, see here for Singapore stockists

Mauboussin

In rose, silver and yellow gold colourways, these sleek and simplistic Mauboussin timepieces are understated enough to wear everyday at the office. The no-fuss design allows easy pairing with every #ootd and will give even relaxed weekend outfits a chic metallic boost.

Steel and mother of pearl watch, $490 from Mauboussin, available at Mandarin Gallery, Takashimaya and TANGS

Dior

La Mini D watch from Dior in this degradé fluorescent colourway is our favourite from the house’s latest youthful timepieces. The perspex sheen goes perfectly with the lucite heeled boots by Raf Simons that are also on our lust list.

Prices start from $4515, available from Ion Orchard and Ngee Ann City stores

The ‘if money is no object’ pieces:

Bulgari

The Il Giardini collection by Bulgari’s watchmaking artisans is painterly perfection. Outdoor gardens served as inspiration ranging from the Italian shores of Lake Como to storybook Renaissance settings. These pieces are made with the artistry of jewels and versions include blue alligator skin, 18ct rose gold and diamonds – true heirlooms in the making.

Prices start from $47,800, available at Bulgari stores nationwide

Chanel

Mademoiselle Chanel herself would certainly approve of the fine elegance of the latest Mademoiselle Privé collection. It was love at first sight when we locked eyes with the beautiful intricacy of the Camellia range.

Embroidered Camellia watch, $58,770 available from Chanel’s Fine Jewellery Boutique at Takashimaya #01-04
