Bomber jackets have been on the fashion radar for the last few seasons. If you invested in one months ago then good news – they’re still what fashion’s finest are using to keep warm.

When you hear the phrase bomber jacket you’ll likely think of an 80s cover up, but don’t be fooled. The 2011 style has been reworked and is now the hippest way to update your look.
Balenciaga went full on with their version, sending a model down the runway in a woven piece which was black and boasted enormous shoulders. The fabric looked so hard it almost resembled a basket, but not all the fashion houses took things that far.

YSL went for a monochrome look which looked easy to wear, but it was Givenchy which was the bomber jacket king. Showing versions in silk and velvet, the collection had something for everyone and is the one you should have an eye on if you decide to follow this trend.
A big look over the coming season is mixing fabrics. So a velvet bomber with bright jeans would work fantastically for a day out shopping with pals, while a silk patterned variety will instantly dress up some cigarette pants for a swish night out. © Cover Media
