For too long ladies have been covering their pins with unflattering slacks but this season it’s all about setting your legs free.

Whether you’re a skimpy size zero or boast a more voluptuous frame, there’s a pair of high-waisted shorts to suit you, so get out that fake tan and prepare to unleash your legs.

Fashionista Lauren Conrad looked stunning recently in a chic pair of black high-waisted shorts teamed with a tucked-in khaki shirt. The beautiful star opted for tanned bare legs, and accentuated her slender frame by adding a pair of black killer heels.

Her look highlighted the advantages of a more classic take on the trend, whereas celebrity style icon Nicole Richie went for a kookier image when she wore her velvet hotpants out in New York.

The petite star opted for a purple pair, which she matched with thick black tights, a Breton top, sunglasses and a leopard-print hat.

On the runways, Chloé displayed charming mid-length shorts in pastel colours, complimented with camel sweaters and brown leather belts.

Dolce & Gabbana went for a smarter look, blending mini tailored jackets with slinky high-waisted shorts all in black – perfect for an important business meeting.

Meanwhile, models for Tommy Hilfiger sashayed down the runways in pairs which evoked an English country mansion style, teamed with black tights, woolly roll-neck jumpers and cute ankle boots.

It’s not just designer labels who’ve fallen in love with high-waisted shorts though. There are some fabulous pairs available on the high street, where styles include military, polka dot, floral, leather and suede. — COVER MEDIA
