Streetwear brand Mash-Up is known for its eclectic and attention-grabbing prints that are popular with cool club kids and fashionistas alike. Its new collection is no different and will help you make a vibrant street style statement
 

Black isn’t necessarily the only thing that’s cool, just look at Singapore brand Mash-Up Collective. The home-grown label is set to launch its latest collection on August 29, 2014.

Behind the label are a trio of up-and-coming local designers from Lasalle College of the Arts whose bold designs have already made a splash in Singapore’s urban scene. The pieces in this collection definitely stay true to the brand – unreservedly eclectic and attention-grabbing, it’s no wonder Mash-Up is a popular choice of clothing for the young and hip crowd.

The contrast between virtual reality and real life serves as the inspiration behind the trio’s latest collection for Autumn Winter 2014. Screen-grabs and glitch image collages in vibrant hues make quite a statement. Although made from second-hand garments and DIY-centered, these clothes are anything but drab. Expect to see jeans reconstructed as tops and missing sleeves sewn together on garments!

Befitting its brand’s name, the Mash-Up designers utilise a wide mix of inspiration and have many creative collaborations under their belt. Past collaborations include the Mash-Up night, Bashup, which they hosted with Fash @ Butter Factory in 2013 – not only were crazy props and garments made, music and partying also added to the fun night.

The designers’ latest collaboration will be an exhibition launching the latest Mash-Up collection and will also involve videographer Glenn Ong, photographer Natsuko Teruya and the creative team behind C+C&Co. Through this cross-media collaboration, a series of images and videos will be shown in a bid to delve deeper into the theme behind this collection – “virtuality” versus reality.

Mash-Up will launch its collection on August 29, 2014, both online and offline at a showcase event – #MASHUPDIGITRIBE ‒ at Canvas for one-night only. Digital works will continue running until September 13, 2014.
