Nike is celebrating Season 3 of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series Stranger Things with an ’80s-inspired collaborative capsule collection. It’s apt considering the show is set in small-town Hawkins, Indiana, in the summer of 1985.

The Nike-Netflix collab seems to be a foregone conclusion, judging by how Seasons 1 and 2 of Stranger Things were full of ’80s icons, including the much-loved sports brand, where classic Nike footwear and brand marks were common on-screen. Off-screen, this became the inspiration for the Nike Stranger Things collection.

Hitting stores today, the first drop of the collection incorporates Hawkins High School’s green and orange colours, as well as its Tiger mascot into a spirited mix of apparel, footwear, sweatshirts and t-shirts in collegiate style. The collection highlights the brand’s iconic Cortez, Blazer, and Tailwind sneakers, fashioned to complement the phys-ed-influenced apparel.

For Nike, 1985 was also the year that marked the launch of its Air shoes, and also when the emblematic Nike Dunk emerged on college basketball courts.

But that’s not all. The second drop of shoes is slated for July 1. Dubbed the “OG Pack,” the Cortez, Blazer, and Tailwind each come in a new colour scheme that sees a mix of red, white, and blue in honour of the USA’s 1985 Independence Day. They will each feature a year marker on the heel and special fireworks display sock liner.

The Nike Stranger Things collection will be available at NikeLab Dover Street Market Singapore and online at Nike.com.
