We loved following the adventures of Priscilla of Ong Shunmugam, Sabrina Goh of Elohim by Sabrina Goh and Chelsea Scott-Blackhall of Dzojchen as they embarked upon their New York adventures last week for their CFDA FashionFutures induction (talk about a dream orientation week)! Handpicked for the inaugural FashionFutures initiative, founded by the Council of Fashion Designers of America in conjunction with Singapore Fashion Week, their visual diaries (a.k.a Instagram feeds) gave us sneak peeks into what happens when SG meets NY. From meeting with Singapore born, Nepali-bred and New York-based designer Prabal Gurung to cosying up with Diane Von Furstenberg on Maker’s Row, this is the best piece of voyeuring you’ll do all day.
We’ll let their pictures tell the story:
DAY 1: The girls check-in to the Ludlow Hotel on the Lower East Side of Manhattan
DAY 2: Back to back showroom meetings for the ladies involve running around NYC (and occasionally getting lost)
DAY 3: A trip to the hallowed halls of CFDA HQ and a stop off at Thakoon’s New York design studio
DAY 4: A jam-packed day, the designers head to KCD worldwide, one of the biggest global fashion PR agencies; preview the DVF Spring Summer 2016 collection being made in the Garment District and visit the couture house of Carolina Herrera to see the art of draping in action
DAY 5: The final day of their New York induction brings the Singaporean designers face to face with Prabal Gurung and through the doors of Harper’s Bazaar’s historic fashion closet
On a final note, thanks Priscilla, Sabrina and Chelsea, for showing us that shameless selfies are always okay, no matter which continent you’re on!
