Weekend Sundries Pre-fall capsule collection – Speckled Skies

While most of the Autumn Winter collections may not make much sense in Singapore’s perpetual hot and humid climate – except in an air-conditioned office with temperatures rivalling the Artic – transitional Pre-fall pieces are surprisingly relevant in our tropical wardrobe.

Singapore designer Michelle Chan knows this fact well and the designer of Weekend Sundries is hoping her Pre-Fall capsule collection Speckled Skies will help women ease from Spring Summer’s lighter pieces into whatever Autumn-Winter offerings that are tropics-friendly.

Chan says of the capsule collection, ““With Speckled Skies, I chose to indulge in my intuition. I went with pieces that came most naturally to me – relaxed silhouettes, chic shapes and comfortable materials. It was really a therapeutic experience for me and I hope this feeling translates well into my clothing and in turn, for the wearer too.”

The soothing blue skies of Singapore are the inspiration for Speckled Skies – a spectrum of blues tinged with lavender and peach represent the shifting clouds and sporadic rain showers of the local climate. This collection doesn’t depart much from Weekend Sundries signature, the usual understated pieces all have a quirky spin – think knit maxi dresses with faux suspender straps and cut-out collar details on kite dresses.

From now until August 18, 2013, Weekend Sundries is running a pop-up store at Jem Robinsons. Both the Pre-fall and Spring Summer 2013 collections will be available at the pop-up store.

The Weekend Sundries Pre-fall 2013 collection is priced from $59 to $229.
