Launched in September 2014, the Singapore-only designer pop-up shop Keepers has been so successful that not only was its original run of five months extended, it’s now been given a year-long reprieve.
After a Singapore Tourism Board survey found that more than 85 percent of people who visited the store said they were more aware of Singapore designers and therefore more likely to buy local, and another 80 percent of those surveyed wanted a similar concept on a more permanent basis, it’s been agreed that Keepers is going to stay around a bit longer.
Jointly organised by the Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore (TaFf) and Singapore jewellery designer Carolyn Kan of Carrie K., Keepers was Singapore’s largest-ever collective of local designers and artisans featuring everything from furniture and fashion, to food, beauty, architecture, millinery and homewares. The new Keepers will also be supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Design Singapore Council.

Keepers will close on February 16, 2015 for a two-week refresh and then reopen from March 1, 2015 to January 15, 2016, with over 50 local designers and artisans from across fashion, food, homewares and lifestyle products. Resident designers who will make a comeback include Aijek, Carrie K., Code Deco, Destisaint, Dzojchen, Elohim by Sabrina Goh, Gnome & Bow, In Good Company, Lingwu, Marilyn Tan Jewellery, mu and Whole9Yards. Previous guest designers like Arc will become residents and there will be new brands like Controlled Commodity, Gin Lee, Peir Wu and A Dose Of Something Good.

On top of all the shopping, the popular monthly events will also return and more than likely more celebs will drop by ‒ Zhang Ziyi actually visited Keepers on her recent trip to Singapore!
Keepers is a fantastic opportunity to see what Singapore design talent really has to offer … Gone are the days of local designers not being “good enough”.
