Pop-up stores come and go but this latest one stands out with its eco-conscious selection of furniture, stationery, plants and more fab finds from Singapore brands.

Held from now until March, 2014, at the open-air carpark of People’s Park Complex, the Nong pop-up store proffers you the chance to shop discernibly for sustainably produced items.

Named after the Chinese character for farming, this eco-conscious pop-up store is co-organised by Singapore e-retailer Naiise and urban family community, Edible Gardens.

Be it notebooks fashioned out of upcycled wallpaper or vintage furniture, take heart in how each item is made from eco-conscious practices that care for Mother Nature. Highlights include sustainably produced teak furniture rom Ethnicraft, inspirational posters from Holstee, as well as rustic kitchen accessories from Galanga Living.

“We believe we speak to the same audience (as Edible Gardens) — people who want to take action and contribute towards a better, more sustainable tomorrow,” says Naiise marketing director Amanda Eng. “We’re also really excited to be part of this growing movement that is is turning Singapore’s dense urban spaces into beautiful, edible gardens.”

The pop-up store hopes to introduce more eco-conscious brands to Singapore shoppers, while encouraging shoppers to try their hand at growing their own food.

It’s not just for those with green fingers either, so to speak. The amateur gardeners too, can have a go at growing their own bok choy (Chinese cabbage) in their own homes.

Stock up on gardening supplies and tools at the pop-up store and learn more from the team of urban farmers on how you can grow your own produce even in tiny little Singapore. Top finds include the Boskke hanging planters — you’ll be able to hang your growing plants from the ceiling, a nifty new way to add greenery to your living space.

Restaurants the likes of The Cajun Kings and Morsels will also be setting up shop at Nong, so you certainly won’t go hungry while shopping.

So make a visit and find out how you can shop more eco-consciously too, right in the heart of Chinatown while this pop-up store’s still on.

The Nong pop-up store will run from now to March 2014 at Level 6, People’s Park Complex, 1 Park Road, Singapore 059108; opening hours: 11am to 9pm daily. Visit the NONG Facebook page and the Naiise e-store for more information.
