Hello Kitty Classic MyStamp Folder Set B.pngFrom a cartoon character to a pop culture icon, the iconic Hello Kitty has done it all. Created in 1974 by Sanrio, the cute Japanese character attracts grown women as much as the little girls it was originally designed for, so it comes as no surprise that SingPost has decided to document the evolution of Hello Kitty as part of the celebrations of Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary.

According to the famous cat’s history, she was born in a suburb outside of London on November 1, Hello Kitty lives with her twin sister Mimmy and her parents. Created by Japanese illustrator Yuko Shimizu, the adorable cat was first featured on a vinyl coin pouch. Since then Hello Kitty has come a long way. The mouthless cat has weaved its way into society, creating legions of fans the world over. There are websites, restaurants, and even theme parks, dedicated to the ageless sensation of a Japanese bob cat. Despite maintaining the same features (bow on left ear, mouthless face, paws with no claws) the kitty has reinvented itself through the ages.

The launch of the Hello Kitty MyStamp sets will be done throughout 2014. SingPost will be launching five different sets (complete with added souvenirs!) starting from April 16 to October 28, 2014. There are limited edition lanyards, tote bags, and umbrellas to collect too.

The Hello Kitty 40th Anniversary MyStamp Collection is available for pre-order from March 2014 at all SingPost outlets. For more information, visit www.hellokitty40.sg and follow SingPost on Facebook.
