With the rainy season upon us, it wouldn’t be surprising if you are considering investing in a pair of clunky rain boots to keep your feet dry. The thing is: rain boots are cool when you get to wear them with short skirts and jeans; not so much when you have to pair them with prim pencil skirts and formal work pants.

Thanks to “jelly shoes” purveyor Melissa, however, there’s a way to keep your toes dry while still looking your best. The Brazil shoe brand, noted for their rubber-like footwear, will finally set up a standalone store in Singapore on November 15.

Melissa’s first flagship boutique in Singapore will be called MDreams – we’re guessing it means Melissa Dreams in short – will be located on basement two of Wheelock Place, and is approximately 7,500 square feet in size.

The interior of the boutique is almost space age-like with its stark, all-white décor, the perfect canvas for the typically gaily-hued Melissa shoes to stand out against.

The store will carry most of Melissa’s FW2012 collection, from the Jason Wu collaboration to the recent Alessandra Ambrosio-designed range as well as their signature Melissa Ultragirl and Melissa Campana collections.

Opt for a Melissa Devotion ankle bootie as a wet weather option – there are five stunning colours to choose from – or go for a pair of round-toed pumps from the Melissa Incense range, both styles will make you the most well-heeled person in a thunderstorm.

Look through all the styles from the FW2012 collection below in preparation for next Thursday’s official opening and don’t forget to make space in your shoe cupboard. You’ll need it.

Prices begin from $75 for the Melissa Fly II and goes up to $600 for the Melissa Ultragirl + J. Maskrey range.

The MDreams store is located at B2-03, Wheelock Place.
