What happens when you get a fun-loving couple to switch up each other’s looks?

Rachael, 25, our features writer, jumped at the chance to makeover her boyfriend of one year, Terence, 26, because she wanted him to dress his age and adopt more colours in his wardrobe.

“He normally dresses in solid, neutral colours which I find can be a bit safe and boring. I think he would look great in more youthful-looking clothes, which he seldom wears,” she said.

Terence, too, was similarly excited about it. “Rachael normally wears loose clothes that don’t really show off her great figure, so I would love the chance to dress her in outfits that do so.”

With the help of the very nice people at ck Jeans, who were willing to sponsor the clothes used for the makeover, as well as their on-hand stylist, Jerome Awasthi, to provide tips and opinions, we’ve managed to transform Rachael and Terence into a more stylish version of themselves.

Terence on Rachael’s outfit: I chose this pseudo-burlesque outfit (the corset top and skinny jeans) because I feel that this complements her physique, especially her shoulders and thighs.

Rachael on Terence’s outfit: I like patterned clothes, and this checkered shirt under a sweatshirt hoodie is perfect for the preppy look, which I think is pretty stylish.

Jerome: This outfit is a good choice for Rachael since the bolero jacket and bustier top focused on and flattered her bust area. The structured silhouette also helped accentuate her figure, making her more curvaceous.

For Terence, this use of the hoodie worked as it helped play up his boyish features, making him look younger.

However, when you see them together, this look might not work so well because Terence will look younger than Rachael.

Jerome then stepped in and gave Rachel and Terence two looks that would suit them best.
On her: New stretch popeline spaghetti top, $139, Smoke black 5 pockets jean, $199, Cotton viscose long-sleeved knitwear, $149, allfrom Ck Jeans. Envy Air Push Up Demi bra, $119, Ck Underwear.
On him: Golden Indigo 5 pocket jeans, $249, Yarn dye stretch pop long-sleeved shirt, $159, Heavy cotton long-sleeved hood cardigan, $199, all from Ck Jeans

Jerome: I gave Rachael this leopard print dress as it will not only streamline her silhouette but also show off her legs. Furthermore, the leopard print gives her a fun and slightly wild demeanour without looking too intimidating with the help of the jacket and the belt, which helps to make the whole look more stylish.

I also gave Terence this dark denim shirt which is flattering on him because it helps lengthen his upper body. When paired with a pair of chinos, it adds a more rugged, masculine vibe to his entire look.

Terence on this outfit: I like the colour combination of this outfit. It is easy on the eye and the combination of the denim top and chinos gives me that slightly grungy look that I like, but still keeping it neat and stylish.

Rachael on this outfit: I really love this dress because it is lightweight and easy to wear. The neckline of the dress can also be adjusted according to how much skin you want to reveal. I also like that the jacket is not too thick so I can wear it in this weather. Overall, this look is what I would wear.

On her: Fluid gauze dress, $249, Light-weight coating cotton jacket, $299, Eyelet skinny belt, $119, all from Ck Jeans.
On him: Stretch shirting long-sleeved shirt, $189, Light jegging Ck One pants, $219, Ck One Cotton tank(worn inside), $55, Ck Underwear

Jerome: Since Terence was hoping for Rachael to look slightly sexier, I put her in a pair of body hugging leggings paired with a t-shirt. And because Rachael wanted Terence to dress younger without making herself look older than him, I gave her a backpack to complete the look.

As for Terence, I layered a striped hoodie under a sporty jacket to give him that youthful look Rachael likes. Also these two looks are slightly more laid-back and casual, so they can wear this when going out on fun dates.

I like how the look gives them a casual but not sloppy vibe.

Terence on this outfit: This look is different from what I would usually wear but I like how the hood from the striped sweater matches well with the outer jacket so that they look like it is one top instead of two. I also like the metallic bag as it complements the jeans well.

Rachael on this outfit: I would wear this outfit when I want to look chic but comfortable. The leggings are flattering and I like the ribbed details on the knees. The knit jacket is great also for keeping warm on cold days and usually I wouldn’t know how to wear a backpack but here it adds something extra to the whole look.

On her: Jersey S-neck t-shirt, $89, Punto Milano pants, $159, Wool-blend long-sleeved cardigan, $269, Gold nylon backpack, $199, all from Ck Jeans.
On him: Soft sweatshirt long-sleeved zip cardigan, $169, Cotton wool long-sleeved hood, $179, Black stretch 5 pockets jeans, $269, Easy gym PU shopping tote, $229, all from Ck Jeans
