Minimalism is the new buzz-word in the fashion arena, with accessory designs centering upon the theme of simplicity with style. Creativity is crucial – it sets exceptional models apart from the rest and ensures that functionality is not sacrificed with the loss of details.

Issey Miyake TWELVE watch DECOR

Talented Japanese watch designer Naoto Fukasawa accurately depicts the essence of minimal luxe in his conceptualisation of new watch models for Issey Miyake’s TWELVE watch collection (pictured above). A bold stroke of design brilliance lies in its crystal watch face, with twelve angles to act as hour markers against a plain watch dial devoid of numbers. Its broad watch hands are unadorned except for the inscription of Issey Miyake’s brand name.

The minimalist style does not always have to be associated with a monochromatic design, or even restricted to cool colours. Drawing inspiration from Japanese traditional art, previous car designer Satoshi Wada incorporates a vivid ‘human orange’ to symbolize human warmth and passion in Issey Miyake’s W watch collection.

These two new chronograph watches for the W collection come in either an orange dial with a black bracelet, or a black dial with orange leather strap. Not only do they serve to inject a bright dose of colour to the minimalist aesthetic features, they are also apt reminders that you do not have to consider plain black and white when doing up the minimalist look.

The 2013 creations for Issey Miyake’s TWELVE watch collection come in three models, with prices ranging between $535 and $588. For the two new designs in Issey Miyake’s W watch collection, prices are between $825 and $895.
