Most people (including myself) have steered clear of denim skirts for the past few years because of the immense love everyone was giving to THIS terrible looking skirt circa 2005 …

It took me awhile before I regained some courage to re-incorporate the denim skirt into my wardrobe, and now, I absolutely love it. It is a great tropical weather friendly alternative to jeans, and it’s one of the season’s biggest trends right now.

Here are 3 fresh new denim skirt styles straight off the runways that you should try now.

1. Short A-Line denim skirt

This style is a hot favourite this season. It combines a feminine silhouette with a tough fabric, adding a little dimension to an otherwise plain outfit. Try it with a contrasting floral blouse for a 70s vibe or simply tuck in a crisp white blouse for a modern twist.

2. Button down denim skirt

The button down denim skirt is an offshoot of the 70s style resurgence that is trending in 2015. This style has made appearances in many catwalk collections and has also found its way into the hearts of your favourite street style stars.

The denim trend is back with way more style points. There is something so proper, retro yet chic about a flowy denim skirt. I think it will look amazing with a crop top, basic white tee or even a bold denim blouse.
