Spring Summer 2012 has seen the rise of the “no mascara” look, where casual beauty rises against high-octane glamour. The look was favoured on a number of designers’ catwalks including Tommy Hilfiger, Preen and Donna Karan.

Models were seen rocking the “conservative is cool” trend with their fresh faced looks, which didn’t look out of place on the couture catwalks.

To make this look work in reality you need to embrace flashes of colour elsewhere on the face. A strong hued lip colour for example can even be made to look more edgy without mascara. Try a vibrant pink or sexy red colour to really push the trend forward.

If you want to give the look a try, always curl your lashes first too for a wide-eyed effect. If you’re not feeling suitably brave to go completely naked on your eye, choose an eyeliner to help you out. Work the liner into the root of the lash and blend it for subtle definition.

It is also important to sport a bright and fresh face when donning this daring look. Apply a brightening cream or primer to your skin and finish with a creamy concealer and eye brightener for a gorgeously flawless look. Use a creamy blush to add a natural flush to your cheeks. © COVER MEDIA
