Roland Mouret to design dresses for Banana RepublicLondon-based French luxury designer Roland Mouret is creating a capsule collection for the American high street brand.

The fashion talent behind some of the noughties’ biggest red carpet hit dresses, including the ‘Galaxy’ and ‘Moon’ styles, has turned his talents to the mass market with a new range of dresses for Banana Republic.

The Roland Mouret for Banana Republic collection will follow on from a previous capsule with Issa London and the holiday collaboration with the late L’Wren Scott, which hit stores in November last year.

“Partnering with Banana Republic on this project was such an adventure for me,” explained Mouret.

The designs will all use Banana Republic’s signature ‘Sloan’ fabric, a contour stretch material that creates flattering body-contour shapes that wrap around the body, offering “incredible fit through an assortment of hourglass silhouettes,” according to the designer.

“These pieces are multi-functional for the modern woman to wear and accessorize in her own way, making her always ready for life’s journey,” he added.

The 25-piece collection will hit Banana Republic stores worldwide and online in early August this year. Expect bold color-blocking, graphic details, leopard prints and perforated detailing. Prices will range from US$49.50 (approximately S$62) for belts up to US$165 for dresses. — AFP RELAXNEWS
