The British designer has created a highly anticipated wedding collection for the high street giant and the first pictures of the creations have finally been published.

The fashion creative explained that he was aiming to create cool and affordable options for trendy brides-to-be and that his designs wouldn’t look out of place at parties and weddings alike.

“I proposed the idea after my Spring/Summer 12 show,” he told Vogue.co.uk. “I liked the idea of making a modern affordable alternative to meringue culture. The dresses are marketed as bridal but would equally be suitable as bridesmaid or cocktail dresses.”

The capsule collection contains seven pieces and feature short T-shirt style dresses as well as long, fitted gowns.

Combining casual elegance with sexy corsetry, the garments boast delicate lace detailing and bursts of colour. They range in price from £75 to £350.

“[The collection] is embued with Nicoll’s signature fuss-free femininity and easy, wearable coolness,” Vogue writes.

However, despite his foray into bridal designs Nicoll isn’t planning on including them permanently in his collections.

While he doesn’t mind creating the odd bespoke wedding dress, the designer won’t take Vera Wang’s crown as reigning bridal designer.

“I’ve added some red carpet options to my forthcoming resort collection but wedding dresses are not something I plan to launch,” Nicoll said. “Of course I’m happy to make them on request but I’m not the new Vera Wang, no!”
