Balenciaga and parent company Kering will not be renewing the US designer’s contract, which would make the Spring 2016 Paris Fashion Week their last hurrah together, according to a Women’s Wear Daily report.

Reasons for the split remain unknown, although industry insiders say the brand will replace Wang with another designer.

Update: The spilt between the Parisian maison and Wang has now been confirmed. It is reportedly a mutual decision with both parties releasing positive statements regarding the move.

Alexander Wang said: “It’s been an incredible experience to work with a couture house in Paris. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to work for this historical maison. I would like to thank the brilliant team at Balenciaga for their collaboration and for what we have accomplished together, and I am looking forward to taking my own brand to its next level of growth”. His last show for Balenciaga will be on October 2nd in Paris.
