Founder and creative director of Noël Caleb, Eileen Yap (fifth from right)
If you always wanted to start your own fashion label but have no idea where to start, Eileen Yap has got your back. The entrepreneur and founder of Singapore fashion label Noël Caleb was also once in the same shoes and shares, “when I started in fashion myself, I poured in a lot of investment and no one pre-empted me on what to look out for and how to run a fashion business.”
Despite the odds, Noël Caleb has become one of the success stories in the local fashion industry and Yap has created the Noël Caleb mentorship programme to share her experience. Through one-to-one sessions, the participants of this three-month programme will be able to dip their hands in the entire process of designing and launching a fashion line. Yap will be on hand to guide the participant through the different stages ‒ from conceptualisation to pattern-making and finally marketing the collection.
A new capsule collection will be launched with Noël Caleb as part of “graduation” from the programme. Favourable response from shoppers will see the collection produced with joint investment from the brand and participant.
What’s great about the mentorship programme is you don’t have to be a fashion student to take part in it. Yap also encourages those who are exploring a career change to join her – the current participants of the programme include a doctor and sports manager. We can expect to see the collection of the first graduate in April 2014 at the next Noël Caleb runway show.
The 12-week Noël Caleb mentorship programme is priced at $3,000. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information about Noël Caleb, go to www.noelcaleb.com. Follow the brand on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ilovenoelcaleb and Twitter @noelcaleb.
