Preen designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi create clothes for “real people” not “tacky celebrities”.
The couple behind the fashion label like it when stars such as Keira Knightley and Kristen Stewart wear their clothes, but they don’t design just for the rich and famous.
“Celebrity is such a funny word,” Justin told the latest edition of UK magazine Elle.
“It sounds a little tacky,” Thea explained.
“It’s not that we are resistant to it,” Justin continued. “It’s just we don’t design for celebrities. We design for real people.”
The couple will return to London Fashion Week this September after showing their designs in New York over the last few seasons.
With Preen’s 15-year reign as one of the industry’s top fashion labels, the masterminds behind its success explained why they have chosen to return to the UK capital now.
“London Fashion Week embraces all talent, established old or new. It’s more international now. It’s exciting,” Justin gushed.
“It just feels right,” Thea finished.
