Ring in the swinging 60s, but with a touch of class; Raoul’s Autumn Winter 2012 collection seemed to be saying, as designers Odile and Douglas Benjamin sent their latest pieces down the runway last night on day two of Audi Fashion Festival 2012.

From the bright sienna orange to formica green and sharp lavender-lilac colour palette to the sleeveless shift-style silhouettes that prevailed throughout, as well as the zany but never overboard prints, the free-wheeling vibe of the 60s was starkly apparent.

The opening dresses clearly demonstrated that, as two models strutted down the runway side by side in two versions of the same shift dress with contrasting piped lining, one in black and the other in white.

Then, Raoul’s by-now signature, colour-blocking, showed up in a retro-ified manner, with floral patterns showing up on one of the panels. True to Raoul’s spirit, they showed that the 60s can still be classy, with a tempering of the floral explosion with muted tones like forest green, black and white.

Interesting touches came from the circular reverse cut-outs on the front of tops, think the circle left behind from last season’s cut-outs adopted onto the front of pieces, as well as shiny patent arc-shaped trims on skirts, shirts and jackets.

Cozy, Sherlock Holmes-reminiscent tweed coats and tops in autumnal shades were also fantastic highlights of the collection, tying everything together into one cohesive show.

There were also some fantastic cropped leather jackets in chrome silver and patent black; the black version worn over a crisp white shirt and a fabulous paperbag-waist black maxi skirt. The accessories also featured shiny leather pieces like a boston bag carried in the “on-point-tucked-under-the-arm” manner; it’s sure to fly off the shelves.

The evening dress segment of the show debuted a slightly louder print than we’re used to seeing from Raoul, a swirly black-and-orange 70s-like print on a column skirt and also on the closing look, a gown with a beaded collar.

All in all, the Raoul AW12 runway show was more of what we loved from the brand with a little bit of something different thrown in for good measure. What else is there to say but bravo?
